Any still working cheeses for Fuelweaver?

Recommended Posts

I just tried him solo with the best possible gear, with post-CC gear, but the combination of laughably stupid stuff in this fight destroyed me. I'm not asking for "tips" on a normal fight since I already know everything and have tried to fight him many times (only won legit with Wigfrid since the spear TP, area damage, and sanity and health gain remove most of the fight's frantic chores), he's just plain stupid, horribly designed and awful, I need CHEESE so I don't have to fight this monstrosity, so what is out there except gunpowder? Can he still be stuck in some way to use a hondius shootius or something?

For the rant, see below, no toxic git-gudders allowed, skip this section if you're gonna be toxic

Spoiler

Ridiculous stuff includes:

- putting the amulet on for 5 seconds spawns a nightmare beak that won't leave me for the next 30 seconds despite me being at more than 50% sanity
- FW spamming his bone cage every 10 seconds
- FW downtime being less than 10 seconds
- Having to juggle tons of items in the inventory and even with pausing every 2 seconds the fight is frantic and hyper-stressful with 10 things to manage at the same tlme (genuinely, you have to at the same time: maintain distance so FW doesn't hit you, hit the unseen hands to remove his shield, lazy explorer out of his unavoidable bone cage spam, eat a gazillon sanity food every 15 seconds, swap to an AoE item to spam the little minions and if you use the brightshade staff also repair it since it breaks in 5 seconds of pressing F, swap your nightmare amulet for body armor, get close to FW with a melee weapon, look at your health and heal in consequence during the downtime that is already way too short)

Let me introduce you, to the power of moleworms.

FW is going to make me bash my head against the wall. Even this cheese, which works perfectly if executed to the nano-pixel, is breaking my balls with how PERFECTLY PRECISE you have to be to not have to instantly rollback, which I have already done 3 times. First try, the moleworms aren't perfectly aligned so FW just goes to the right and through the wall. Second and third, I placed the star too close so they instantly defreeze. Then on the fourth try, the stars despite being close are too far so the moles unfreeze... Why the hell did Klei ever remove the lureplant chesse, *** all of this, there should legti be a "skip fuelweaver" button at this point. I hate FW so much.

Edit: and apparently, an issue is that my rollback put me back PRECISELY when I had put 1 sign but not the 9 others... Why is the game designed to be so hateful and vicious in this instance I just don't get. And yeah the moleworm thing is just impossible, a good cheese in theory, absolutely unusable in practice. Thanks for the video, but it won't work in my case (7 rollbacks and still didn't work, I give up), Klei dropped the ball way too hard with this. This and CK single-handedly make my enjoyment of the game go from 10 to 0. Well i'm giving up on this horrid boss, and potentially on the game until he's finally fixed, he ruins any possible enjoyment of the game anytime I reach the late-game because it's gatekept behind this hateful monstrosity. Thanks for giving me depression FW.

Swap to Wolfgang, 5 marblesuits, brightshade helm/sword/staff, Jellybeans or 20 healing slaves, 20 cactus flesh, nightmare amulet.

Tank AFW in centre of arena until hand phase, use nightmare amulet then spam brightshade staff on the shielded AFW until hands/wovens are killed.

Repeat while healing health and sanity.

AFW goes down pretty quickly with wolfgang/brightshade staff. But he definitely needs a pre-rift nerf or some other item *cough* moonlight shackle *cough* to combat him.

No, taking AFW on a walk to the corners of the arena isn't a valid strat, it's a dumb as f looking strat for a cool as f looking boss. There has to be a cooler way to fight him.

Valid, but it's not a cheese, it's character swapping, and it's something I really dislike; I create my worlds for one character and one only. Not for difficulty, I just don't like the idea of changing character mid-run. As for the shackles sure, but some nerfs he could use immediately would be: either a rework of or only allowing 1 bone cage per minute, combining the timers of the minions and hands so that they aren't disjointed and we have way less things to track, and increase the timer by 50 or 100% duration before he starts another wave, no nightmare creatures should spawn during the fight, minions should heal 200 hp, not 400.

I did almost everything I could with the new Walter, and enjoyed him a lot, but FW has removed all motivation to play from me, as he often does. I'm more than 300 days in, don't have much to look forward to at this point, and the cave rift content is gatekept behind this thing.

Also Klei, please let us burn the spider webs in some way, I'm begging you

i fought FW, i experienced a lot of the same feelings as you, and i still feel like a lot of what you said is blown out of proportion due to frustration

if you're struggling with handling millions of little things at the same time, then try handling some little things at the same time

Don't have cheese (or use it) but the fight is terrible for console players. I hope you find it.

Indeed, FW on console has to be straight-up masochism.

you dont need to go there to validate that u want to cheese the fight because its far from  true

It's the truth, simple as. There is no other way to hit the shadow hands than to put on a nightmare amulet. Putting on the nightmare amulet immediately spawns a terrorbeak that will continue attacking me for 15/20 seconds after removing the amulet. This is stupid, horribly designed and awful. Imagine if sleeping dragonfly with the flute removed 50 hp from you directly without considering your armor, just because you can heal 50 hp easily wouldn't make it any less stupid, horribly designed and awful. I want to cheese the fight because it's awful, and in my case I genuinely have more fun watching a Shootius spam at him than fighting him. When that is a common feeling, then the design is heavily flawed. Saying that something horribly designed isn't because "you can adapt" is complete sophistry.

It isn't. Is just excuse. Better blame the game than yourself

If you want to use cheese, exploits, console commands, mods, whatever, go ahead but dont say such dumb things when FW is the best designed boss and the only boss that requires a level of skill similar to most videogames in the market

Low quality bait, and the very intellectual fallacy I just pointed out. "It's beatable, therefore perfect" is what your entire cult constantly spouts. I already said in the first message your trolling pseudo-elitist kind are not welcome.

Beating AFW does require patience, timing and experience however...

My problem with this is the result is terrible, all the "skilled" ways to take down AFW involves walking him like a dog around the place. It's aesthetically dumb, not fun to do and unimpressive looking. AFW needs reworked to be fun and enjoyable to master, Woby is my dog not AFW....

Houndius still works if you trap FW with dreadstone pillars, but that's (arguably) more expensive than gunpowder.

If you're okay with character switching, Woodie treeguard spam still works. Does require some correct positioning. Any method that doesn't get treeguards on the edge of the circle will work, here's one example:

And these aren't exactly cheese methods and do require a (temporary) character switch but make the fight significantly easier:

  • Wormwood's bramble traps can destroy shadow hands even while you're sane
  • Winona's catapults deal with all wovens and help DPS FW. This is how I set them up:

    GEOMETRIC PLACEMENT GUIDE:
Generator goes one unit diagonally from the edge of each corner, like so:

2 catapults to each side of the generator as far out as possible while still being powered (the circle around it will be glowing when you place it if it's powered):

Final one in the middle of the two catapults. Do not place too far out:

Temporary character switching ok? If so, switch to Winona real quick, make 2 or 3 sets of 2 catapults in the corners, then switch back to your regular character. The catapults help a ton as they just invalidate the creeping healers.

I'm interested if there's some strategy for the annoying terrorbeaks/nightmare amulet thing.

Edit: Arcwell just posted a way more detailed post above for the catapults.

I had no idea on bramble traps working while sane. Any other weird things like that? Bramble armor also helps some during the fight, it's cheap aoe.

I usually just go for 2 catapults each corner, it really doesn't take much. This is a great guide, though, maybe I'll start doing 3.

Looks like brightshade bomb, gunpowder/slurtle slime, and weather pain (provided you can target something nearby it) all also break shadowchannelers while sane. I couldn't find any other sources obtainable outside of console commands, but I could've easily missed something.

Searching for "cheese fuelweaver" on youtube got me this as the very first result.

*shrug*

I'm mostly answering because I genuinely believe that you should use the console to kill fuelweaver. The fight seems to be very triggering and upsetting for you so why not skip it completly and never think about it again?

I don't know how to do that but I would assume that somebody here knows how to set FW's health to 1 or outright kill him with a command.

My go-to recommendation for making FW fights easier is definitely Winona's catapults

Why is skilled in quotations? There's plenty nutty and genuinely impressive FW kills out there...

I'd guess because although it takes objective skill to pull off, it's just following a boring precise recipe with no room for errors. Anyone could say the same about holding F for course, but the very rhythm or kiting Dragonfly is quite enjoyable for the vast majority of players who have faced her, while walking the FW around is just waiting in place, not a feeling that's very engaging.
