DVGMedia
I honestly just wonder if there is something set up where klei can see the usage rate of specific skills on the skill tree. I know there are like character usage statsĀ But I think it would be interesting to be able to see what actually gets used in day to day through the different characters. loopuleasa
I am unsure they setup telemetry on the skilltree level. Character usage can be polled via klei official server usage rates as an approximate. The skills are stored on Klei's end for cross-device syncing, so I'm guessing they are able to access them. 2 hours ago, loopuleasa said: Character usage can be polled via klei official server usage rates as an approximate. Even better, Klei's lobby API can be used to query data from all public servers. For example, here are the current character usage rates as of this post: Spoiler 8405 - wendy 4471 - wathgrithr 3612 - wolfgang 3246 - wortox 3237 - walter 3021 - woodie 2416 - wilson 1949 - willow 1433 - winona 1282 - wurt 1157 - waxwell 1071 - wormwood 1038 - wickerbottom 864 - wx78 825 - wanda 705 - webber 408 - warly 248 - xd_wukong 218 - xd_longtaizi 189 - xd_sudaji 137 - monkey_king 126 - lg_lilingyi 118 - sora 118 - kurumi 115 - neza 113 - mcw 112 - herta 112 - carney 108 - musha 97 - ccs 89 - hoshino 85 - frieren 84 - moyuxuanli 72 - wes Note that this includes modded servers (as is evident by the modded characters, though I have cut off the ones with less picks than Wes), so take the numbers with a grain of salt. Additionally, usage rates can fluctuate due to timezones since I only get a snapshot of a single point in time. The sample size for unmodded servers is much smaller, unfortunately: Spoiler 975 - wendy 787 - wilson 407 - wathgrithr 331 - woodie 262 - willow 238 - walter 229 - wolfgang 211 - wortox 160 - webber 151 - winona 128 - waxwell 115 - wx78 89 - wickerbottom 85 - wormwood 61 - wurt 45 - warly 45 - wanda 10 - wes Would be interesting to see similar statistics for skills, although usage rate isn't the be-all and end-all of game design, of course. Well-met
there aren't enough skills for this to actually matter, or maybe I should say there's too many insight points. Their data is almost always going to look the same Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/164695-statistics-of-skill-usage/#findComment-1805114 Share on other sites

Their data is almost always going to look the same No, it's that first one. Walter has the same 15 insight points as everyone else but his skill tree is actually decently designed, so there's going to be a lot of variance. Every single skill in the tree is good, and for the most part there aren't prerequisites of perks being locked behind perks. I don't think there's a single must have skill, the closest is Scruffy Sprinter but even that isn't always a mandatory pick. Meanwhile if you look at most other character's skill trees 90% of the perks are blatant must-haves either because they're clearly miles above other options or they're a mandatory pick in a huge linear line of perks that eventually lead to the one you actually want. Like, look at Wormwood's skill tree: If you want to make summons you don't have any choice. You pick the mushroom skills and that ipecac skill, in addition to the seed sleuth mandatory pick at the very start. The bramble husk offensive skill he has is one of the best skills he has by a considerable margin in his entire tree, which locks you in to the previous 3 perks. The only variation there is is whether or not you want to make those summons, and if you want to get Bee Kind or a bottom right perk instead.
