Voting of 'The most likely unimplemented character to get added to DS/T by klei' talk

Recommended Posts

Yeah, just a small talk about... that, i was a guy that liked to see what stuff did get scraped on games and such, and the currently scraped characters are quite developed tbh. Soo, heres a small thing: Whats the most likely unimplemented character from https://dontstarve.wiki.gg/wiki/Unimplemented_Characters to be added (if any get added, too)? And why do you think such? potencial of idea/theme? Style? etc and stuff. I just wanted to talk about this topic, anyways, heres my vote: Westalt, since i like his idea, a playble gestalt, but idk how gameplay for him would work, since they are basicly ghosts. Anyways, happy to meet more klei fan here btw! Toodles!

anything from new home is just filler slop made by the non-klei dev team. I wouldn't consider it.

However I certainly wish klei would do something with wilton, even if its just another wonkey-type curse.

I don't think they're going to add any more characters, they're too busy focused on the Sisyphean task of constantly updating the current roster over & over again.

its just a idea tho, not really in context with stuff thats happening rn

yeah, newhome is just mobile slop, and no one talks about that game, so i wouldn't count newhome since its not a game by klei.

btw, i like wilton too! He could have some interesting stuff gameplay wise since hes a skeleton, but i would remove the fact he's a form of another character or a curse.

I like Wallace's design, and I feel like of all of them, he has the most potential to be anything that Klei wants him to be. For example, Waverly can only really be a magical character, Westalt can only be a lunar magic character, etc. Wallace's design doesn't have any defining attributes so he isn't bound to any playstyle. If he was a fighter, or a gatherer, or a mage, or a nomad, or anything at all, it would make sense. I guess if they ever added anyone new from that list, I'd vote Wallace

I'd much rather have Charlie and Wagstaff eventually become playable at the end of the shadow/lunar war

A new character would have to offer some pretty substantial new way to play the game since pretty much all of the archetypes you could go with have been added as characters already. Ranged, glass cannon, tank, mage, engineer, summoner, every archetype has at least 2 characters that fits the description. Honestly, any idea I can come up with for a character concept realistically probably makes more sense to add as a feature to an existing character.

But I'd be okay with a Woodlegs port. If Klei can figure out how to port Woodlegs and make him actually good in the meta of dst I'd appreciate that.

so real man, I was interested with him when Hamlet was in beta... to think he got scrapped was just extra big sad man :wilson_resigned:

he was so racist he was sent back into a real world by Charlie

I would prefer if walani just absorbed woodlegs abilities in the form of the skilltree.

Surfer branch to upgrade her surfboard, it would have a niche as the only shipwrecked-like way to navigate the DST ocean.

Pirate branch were she could unlock a premade DST pirate ship with 3 infinite cannons, sail, anchor and mast with cargo chest. (Stealing this from woodlegs)

Treasure hunter branch to get woodlegs lucky hat to spawn x mark the spot chests, ocean treasures spawn closer to you etc etc

I feel walani is a blander character than woodlegs allowing for a lot more creative options for klei to explore, also she's one of the most aesthetically best characters in both games rivalling Wendy, Walani skins would earn a load of money and look boss.

Walani or Woodlegs is safest bet they can go with but seems like they would either make brand new character to sell as DLC or just abandoned new character ideas for the foreseeable future (THANKS SKILL TREES!!)

warbucks shall return

I mean I made a joke about a depressed shell of his former shelf appearing in the share your worst ideas thread.
It was basically an elaborate concept of his psyche broke down when he realized how awful he was in his adventurer/pillager days, and working to rebuild himself trying to relearn how to be a decent person again.

I don't think they'll add him just because the direction of the game has become less gloomy, but I really want someone to get his voice. After completing all the skill trees, of course :)

new home didn't have "characters" outside of non-playables, you just created the person you play as with a character customization, so they wouldn't even be in contention

Wallace's design looks like is inspired from the coppola's dracula film so i bet they had the idea of making a character that is inmune to darkness but hurt in the daytime

Would be interesting but with the new lore direction would feel kinda out of place

I miss that style. A witch, a vampire, a demon, a skeleton... such cool gothic designs

I used to really root for Waverly, but I realize we sort of already have elements of witchcraft in Wickerbottom (books and magic) and Wendy (the potions and stuff)

So for me, unless they really want to lean in on the ocean content enough for a sea centric character, I think the current cast is perfect.

I don’t know, I think the recent update on the sea looks more “Woodlegs stuff” to me. Treasure hunt, better boat, pirates using cannon etc.  Woodlegs might fit better than Walani now.

I still hope Klei implement Wilbur and make him to be a better Wonkey.

Going the vampire route would absolutely be out of place, but it could also be really cool. It has a lot of potential in gameplay, but would be a trainwreck lorewise.

Something I kinda want Klei to bring back is the darker tone the game had :(

Wilba is the one I'd want most of all, adding to the Constant Kiddies, making Pigs more useful and adding in pig and werepig lore. Not sure how much of Hamlet the devs would be allowed to add to DST but simplistic Constant variations could work for the buildings, pig outfits, and even currency. And Wilba could finally get official skins. I so desperately want the rivals-to-friends of Wilba and Wurt.

Walani has a decent chance of being added, giving her early game water traversal, maybe a wave-summoning power, and a skilltree to boost her gameplay. As posted above, adding aspects of Woodlegs' kit would work well if they don't want to or can't put in Woodlegs. She'd probably be upset at being taken from the tropical Shipwrecked world, unless aspects of Shipwrecked like a tropical island cluster were added.

Woodlegs is a bit iffy on adding. He could be given additional lore related to the Moon Quay, his own curse (which can be altered or expanded) preventing Wonkey-fication. He could be added as an NPC though, giving quests after rescue. Maybe they can tie him to a new Abyssal faction slinking around with the war between Moon and Shadow.

Wilbur is very unlikely but not impossible. He'd tie in great to the Moon Quay, be immune to the Wonkey curse, and better communicate with the monkey denizens. His skilltree could even unlock dominion over spelumonkeys, and if they added them spider-monkeys. He could also work as an NPC, maybe an opposer to the Monkey Queen or her son. I'd hope if he did get added that his short would include Wendy, a fellow banana lover.

Wheeler I do like, and wouldn't mind being added, but she feels like an alternate Winona. Maybe taken to the Constant specifically because she gave reminders of Winona, or even was friends/colleagues/(more??) with Winona.

Wiley feels like Walter, especially with Woby's courier skill. I do like the name though, maybe with some more bells and whistles Wiley could see the Constant.

Winnie, in a sense, was added with Wurt in the vegan sense of her concept. If they did add a Winnie, I'd want her to be a Goat-Girl, perhaps with a skilltree aspect devoted to sacrificing food to the Gnaw (until choosing shadow/lunar?), other lines for farming, ranching, cooking, and resource gathering. A good many-job character that would pair well working with specialist survivors. [But they did add a goat-girl as Wurt's Victorian skin, which I love dearly]

Wilton I feel would work better as a curse of Woodlegs, or a revived mob follower for Wendy / Wickerbottom.

Waverly scratches that itch of desire for expanded witchcraft and magic. But I'd much rather those aspects be given to Wendy and Wickerbottom instead. Their kits could be improved greatly by anything that could be thought of for Waverly (potions / brooms / summons). Waverly's visage could be a new witch skin for Wickerbottom ; and the name Waverly could be repurposed, no reason it absolutely has to be connected to a witch character. It makes sense and is cool, sure, but its not mandatory.
