What if, whenever the Bee Queen is summoned but not killed, she spawns two killer bee hives around her before reverting back into a gigantic beehive?

So... Ive noticed that Wortox has become more reliant on soul farming, more than ever in this update, which puts a high demand for killer bee hives in the world. But at the same time, killer bee field is not guaranteed in every world gen, which could make soul farming more stressful and inconsistent. The same issue applies to Willow as well I believe. With that in mind, could it be a good idea if the Bee Queen could spawn two bee hives when shes summoned but not killed? Of course there should be a cooldown to avoid endless spamming.

Did another playthrough last night that went to late Spring and I actually don't think there is a player-built soul farm that is as convenient and provides the sheer number of souls a bee biome gives.

This could be circumvented by just having a way to change or "upgrade" regular beehives to Killer bee ones. A base kit ability that uses souls to temporarily change the state of a beehive would be perfect.

I think it would be cool in case initial killer bee hives were destroyed by nonsense like moose goose spawning on top of them

but they wouldn't yield honey or combs ever

I wish there was a way to make more KBHives but the grief potential I guess? :(

Well... Walrus camps are same thing, the map generation RNG in this game is a pain in the ass. And some people might be happy with a beehive for scenery.

Like real bees, if there are a many of homeless bees and a royal jelly, would you make a wild beehive there?

I now understand Wortox players better on this issue, I really felt his dependancy on killer bee hives to farm souls yesterday when I was playing some beta Wortox, in my world there were only 2 killer bee hives and they were far from the location my friend made our base, I only had normal bees nearby base and had to stick to them and spiders... well, I punched the bee hives so much to aggro bees outside that some beehives were broken by spring just from those punches and the spiders I quickly found out how farming souls on them is annoying because of warrior spiders. I was so tired from the experience I took a break and went to play some other game afterwards. I would really appreaciate a way to create new killer bee hives not only because they could be destroyed but also because some worldgens simply don't have enough of them.

Remember that you can heal hives with healing items like glands

It should only happen if bee queen is killed, otherwise its just free honeycomb and honey.

No. Illogical.

And there's a balance issue of the free honeycomb farm.

Thats why the cooldown, maybe 10-20 days or something. Or just make these hives unable to drop honey at all

I would agree that to give a new structure for similar purposes. But I don't agree to use the original hive. It's a bit strange for me. I mean - this change need a special aesthetic upgrade I guess, just like what happened to Wendy's graveyard moving ability.

Maybe instead of filling the bq arena with wasp hives, it could swap out one of the honeycombs bq drops for like, a hive starter?

It'd be basically the same as a honeycomb drop, just waiting for a bit for the starter to become a wasp nest instead of instantly having the comb.

I'm just not a fan of bq area being filled with a ton of hives and it needing to be cleared out everytime someone wants to do bq because a Wortox needed an easier time getting souls.

I've taken to just planting a lot of pig houses in the frog hell as having exactly enough pig houses that the pigs barely lose every respawn gives a lot of souls and decent amounts of pig skin. (The pig skin yields are worse then the powder cake graveyard method, but when souls and frog legs are also a byproduct its a pretty good yield.)

Technically because the frogs will set off killer bees so you can also add in bee's if your forests didn't give you enough pig skin for a proper deadly meatgrinder.

Mix in a rabbit+spider farm somewhere where the rabbits barely consistently win, and you have a winning combo that works through winter.

I'm not saying the ideas without merit but I appreciate wortox asking me to think of clever ways to create endless death and chaos and not building the same death farm every world.

That makes more sense honestly, makes hives renewable as well. Amazing idea.

Why not build bee box?

Why not treat with the beehive?

Valid points, but gettin them would be a hassle during winter.

You can gently tap the beehive with a fishing rod and then "treat" it with something like spider glands. Or you can light it on fire with a torch and then extinguish it with a watering can or something similar.

add a craftable evil bee box

I like this so much, I bet it would look really cool as well and the skins it could have... and also catching killer bees with a bug net would finally bee worth for something,  the crafting  would be the same craft as normal beebox but instead of normal bees it would require killer bees! Its such a simple idea but I like this so much, pls Klei :lemo:

i will do terrible things to the frog species if this happens.

Mosquitoes and Fruit Flies aren't an option for Wortox?

Mosquitos spawn pretty slowly after you kill them, and fruitflies are pretty annoying to even summon.

I mean there are bee boxes  They may not spawn as many bees but like they are place it where you want beehives. and they produce honey.
you can get like 6 from beequeen if you kill her and decon her hat.  Thats already 24 bees you have at your disposal while also getting food.

Also spring increases the amount of bees in all  structures even bee boxes by 33%

winter can always burn the boxes to get them out so its more important to have a flingo around  your bees to freeze
