Buff farm crop in crock pot and nerf eating them raw

Recommended Posts

If you ever farm or at lease eat the food that other people farm, you will notice how good farm crops are , most farm crops gives you 25 hunger and decent healing when cooked. not to mention they have a long shelf live in general and you can carry them around as a quick snack.

However, thats only the case if you eat them raw/roasted, farm crops in crock pot are just really bad in crock pots in general ( who designed the stat of stuffed eggplant , pumpkin biscuit ,asparagus soup? ) . Consider crock pot are consider as a food refinement station in dst, this really shouldn't be the case . also over half of the crockpot meals are meat based and there is a clear lacking of veggie based filling food ( food that gives 75+ hunger)

also if they are at it, they should add more crock pot food for farm crops

Spoiler

and make another dish for nightberry that is meat based so warly and wigfrid can try out the night vision

obviously i dont think this is a urgent deal that klei should look into it right away , consider they are still dealing with the wendy/walter skill tree, but i still hope they would eventually look into this

Farming is always going to be a very bad food source because of how much players have to do to keep it going. I do agree that some recipes can be improved but its not really going to make farming an amazing food source.

Maybe read up on calorie density in vegetables and compare it to meat, this seems very logical to me. I wouldn't want to see multiple recipes that only use vegetables and restore a lot hunger.

and not to mention that all vegetable dishes use quick eating animation while meat dishes use longer one.

solo? i agree, but in multiplayer, one farmer can easily feed everyone on the server

carbohydrate are big energy source , also people sorta already can survive with eating like 20 potatoes in game already without issue at all, shifting it to crock pot would be more interesting

anyone that eat raw veggie lol

I think cooking food in crock pot is still more convenient than eating everything raw/cooked on campfire.
I mean, if you like eating eating stuff raw - game gives a lot of options for both ways so it's ok.

And also not every single crock pot recipe should be good, you get rewarded for knowing good combinations and getting meme recipes like stuffed eggplant if you just throw stuff haphazardly.

well potato have a shelf life of 10 days, and can be extended via cooking, dont forget they heal 20 hp per bite !

i think that's the bad way to do this, there's nothing the player learn from making stuffed eggplant.

for example, monster lasagna exist to teach the player they cant use two monster meat in crock pot

kabob is there if to teach you don't cook meat dishes with stick as filler ( barnacle dishes are the exception)

ratatouille is there if you use random veggie that doesn't result in a correct dish

wet goop is there if you experiment too hard

making stuffed eggplant as a punishment dish just feels really silly because the lesson is don't use eggplant in crockpot?

(also kabob and ratatouille can be cooked with really cheap ingredient which adds another layer that even punishment food can be use in a good way)

(In uncomp mod)

Spoiler

You get punishment dish for spamming filler like ice , butterfly wind or twigs, which teach the player that they cant spam cheap fillers to make food , which i personally think is the correct way of punishing

so the thing is, all of the "bad" recipes you mention are older than dst. they are from a long time ago in solo ds when there were not nearly as many recipes

also i still make stuffed eggplant just because it is a tasty dish irl and so i want my character to get to have some too<3 i actually make a lot of b-tier foods in-game because the irl equivalents taste good and i like to play somewhat immersivly

Wouldn’t it be better to improve the stats of those? For the record, I do agree most farm crock pot foods are very lacking, especially stuffed eggplant and pumpkin cookies. I would love if stuffed eggplant was made into a hunger restoring farm dish and pumpkin cookies were reworked to be made in batches of 2-3 to be able to share with others.

I don’t really think the stats of raw/roster are a problem, just that there aren’t many dishes to put them in (which is why I also think adding more is a good idea). Fruit items on particular could really use it, as there’s very little dishes that require fruit so it often just becomes a quick spoiling filler.

i originally thought this as a idea encourage to cook more than just eating their raw version, but im fine if the raw/roast version stay the same

The most interesting thing about farming is precisely not needing to use the crockpot to heal

Meat already gives tons of hunger and can heal while is easier to acumulate

Farming gives a lot of sanity recipes which is something you cant get with meat (except for leafy meat)

We need crockpot food expansion for farm crops that have nothing useful to cook with, maybe some jerky storage container, a way to produce butter/milk, ranching expansion and maybe some utility uses from said crops.
