TheTimekeeper
Consedering how many of the skilltrees are going, taking the example of Winnona and Walter, I'm afraid Wanda's skilltree will be more of an alarming clock skilltree with planar damage. What I would like to see is something based on her time control skill, like sending items or structures back or forward in time, for example refreshing food, rebuilding a burnt building, accelerating the growth of something... And not just a combat focused skilltree with planar damage buffs. Any other ideas? Y0sH
The refreshing food and rebuilding structures are nice ideas. I'm hoping they add simple planar damage and defense with only a couple skills then devote the rest of the tree to different watches and mechanics with them. Mike23Ua
I’m hoping it adds new gameplay elements to her, like I don’t know always being pursued by shadows even at high sanity like she is in her animated short? Why? Because Wanda is intended to be a “Glass Canon” type of character, but unfortunately I don’t think any of the folks at Klei know how to accurately portray a glass canon type of character, because it sure as Heck isn’t Wanda.. Wanda is busted, and my only hope when it comes to her skill tree.. is that it aims to balance out some of her “busted” and restore some of the “glass canon” I have no really good suggestions as to HOW to do that, but I’d realistically expect something like Wolfgang level nerfs, as long as such nerfs are justified. Maxil20
As someone who could care less about Wanda’s damage potential, having more utility clocks would be really neat to see and I think could be pretty fun if handled well. thesooz9000
Yeah, the last thing wanda needs is damage or surviveability, i'm thinking they all in on utility here. 00petar00
I want something to counter aging downside since it is only punishing in the early game but gets very annoying to manage after you play Wanda for countless hours. It can be based around world day so it doesn't affect balance and completely stops when year 2 starts or at day 100. We need clock storage bag as DST keeps getting updated there are only more items you may "need" to carry. Managing storage isn't fun for me. A perk that soft locks ageless clock healing so it doesn't change you to a younger form. This shouldn't even be on the skill tree as I don't think it should cost us anything, allow us to name backtrek watches that I currently use a client mod for it is so good to have. I don't know what can be done about backstep watch but I really like using it for shadow pieces, dragonfly and bishops, I wish it was more useful and usable in other fights too. One of the reasons I play Wanda is for her unique combat that no other character can replicate and backstep watch is really unique. Wanda has a problem with survivability from planar enemies and great depths worm, she needs to be able to survive 1 hit or combo rotation from bosses with night armor in old age, we really need a solution here mostly because newer bosses can do combos so you can't use bone armor. Alarming clock planar upgrade is really needed as I don't want to use other weapons when I play Wanda. I had to bold the text because it is one thing I don't want this refresh to ignore. I think most of us play Wanda for simplicity like eating the same food and using the same weapon and healing only with ageless clocks even though this is a negative. Probably the biggest reason to play her is to teleport because a lot of Wanda mains like me don't like walking too much after we have explored everything. Evelo
I don't really care what is in the skillset, but please by all that is good and green in this world I would love if her skillset layout was a clock shape. Armonia
Actual perks for being young could be neat, perhaps shorter clock cooldowns and a chance to not consume the gem of wormhole clock. Or, more boringly, a speed buff. I guess it’s just me, but this never has been a serious problem for me to handle. Considering there is a very obvious transition + sound cue from changing states, it’s very easy to see that and then right click your ageless watch to revert the age increase. The only time it’s more difficult for me to notice is during the moonstorm as the sound cue is greatly muffled and there’s a lot going on, but I just use my discount half life 2 medbay tm I have of 9 ageless watches in a chest to revert the age into a range I desire. I’m a bit so-so about the glass cannon thing. On one hand, I do really like the transition where you can’t actually counter the downside nearly as well post planar, but you are right where multi-hit enemies (which there are a lot of post rift) are really punishing for her. Combined with the clock getting a sharp decline from planar defense, it makes it very risky to do fights against post planar enemies as Wanda for very little “payoff”. I would personally like to see this be adjusted slightly (especially in the damage department), but I would like the fragility to be noteworthy, though still fair to the player. Cruvimaster
1. A branch should be for teleportation. Wanda's teleportation is extremely expensive. Wortox kills bees and goes anywhere freely. He can also carry heavy items at no extra cost. Wanda needs Walrus Tusk (can only be obtained in winter and in small quantities) and Thulecite Fragments. In addition, to transport objects you need a purple gem for each use. Wortox and Winona do this much better. 2. Alarming Clock. The ideal would be a branch to have an improved version made with Enlightened Shard and Shadow Thurible. This new weapon should have some kind of area damage, planar damage and an effect that slows enemies (a slowdown in monsters' time). 3. Armor with 95% planar defense. Night Armor reduces 95% of normal damage. We need a version for Wanda with the same percentage reduction, but planar. 4. Each Backtrek Watch needs some way to tell the location it will teleport to from the others. It's a mess trying to figure out where each of these watches is going. There is a penalty for teleporting with heavy items. Winonas has a set up cost and you have to make sure each telepad is equal distance away. Each telepad needs materials you can obtain twice a day with 25% chance through wagstaff drops. Wandas tp is expensive. But I think the issue is with it are mostly tusks, which are limited to 1 season only. Maybe some other ways of getting them outside of winter. A skill to reduce watch cd would be cool. 35 minutes ago, Cruvimaster said: Each Backtrek Watch needs some way to tell the location it will teleport to from the others. Purple gems are abundant especially now with gem trees, how many times do you even need to use this to move heavy objects? Thulecite fragments are so easy to gather, If you want a safe method and not have to bother with hammering walls near splumonkeys you can go to archives. Wanda has the best teleportation ability in the game, Wortox always has a cost and Winona needs to cover whole map with her structures and both of them can't teleport between shards. Wanda does require setup but once you do it you always have it for free. 42 minutes ago, Cruvimaster said: 4. I have ~1000 hours of her on my world alone and I don’t think it’s a serious issue (one you need to keep in mind, of course, just not one that is super dangerous, at least compared to her other post-planar issues). 27 minutes ago, 00petar00 said: I always play Wanda in old age because I like always being at maximum damage and that is what the developers want of us but I still don't think she should be killed in one hit or combo when you are using the best armors in the game. I do also believe that you should be able to endure at least one “round” of hits from planar enemies when old, since as mentioned it’s very improbable to survive a hit with ~25 or so health, and especially since Maxwell already struggles with that. I’m just not sure what way to do it without making middle-young age Wanda comically powerful from damage resistance other then a mechanic that works specifically when old, which could be interesting to toy with. ShadowDuelist
This could maybe be super hard to code and of mild utility but she could create a time bubble in a small area with an entire different season inside. Things inside would be affected depending the season she picked: Eg: - temperature and rain/snow only in that small area. - cactii flowering if you pick summer - seasonal fishes appearing in that area if the correct season and ocean area is affected - seasonal birds on the specific turf - A hound spawner would spawn the proper color of hounds - Casting autumn in an area would make a chill arena maybe to fight hounds/depth worms without having to deal with temperature/sandstorm/heavy rain for a few minutes. Spoiler and I have conflictive thoughts if she could force seasonal beings whose spawners we know, out of their season to appear, like mactusks, moose/goose or the antlion. Perhaps it could be limited to rush their respawn during the appropiate season instead. Sacco
For wanda i hope everything other than combat in her skill tree. She is already busted on her own, increasing even more her damage potential would just make her more op. Just give her some planar damage to the clock and we're ok about fighting. I have been in quite a few situations where I didn't have second chance watch or backstep. Its really not fun to keep clocks at base and teleport when you need them. Also you need to carry nightmare fuel for alarming clock and life giving amulet. I like being prepared and I often fight bosses without going back to base. I don't see why not add a storage solution for clocks that works like bearger bin without having to drop it. I am an experienced player and 2 ageless clocks is enough for me to kill almost every boss but most players will need more. 15 minutes ago, arubaro said: But you are still fighting in late..unless isba clock that stops the downside during X days but returns when you engage in a fight I dont think this is a good idea Its not really that impactful during fights the aging downside takes 40 seconds for 1 year but I wouldn't mind if it was enabled during fights. I think it only happened to me a few times when I got hit to age 79 and died to natural aging downside even when I had ageless watch that wasn't on cooldown but only because I have so many hours on Wanda, most players won't ever experience this. The more likely situation is that you kill or escape a fight and ageless watch is on cooldown so you die but even this is rare and it can only happen before I get second ageless watch. Besides alarming clock planar damage this is probably the thing I want to see the most change with Wanda skill tree because it just got really boring for me to deal with natural aging after playing Wanda so much. I already suggested that it can be made so it works based on world day after second year starts or day 100 because at that point you'll have as many ageless watches as you want and it would only be a small buff for these extreme situations where you survive at age 79. A Traveler
I'd like it to be focused more on gameplay mechanics (utility, exploration ...) rather than just damage. One thing I like about Winona is her Founder's Keepers skill which gives incentive to track down cache boxes for goodies. I'd like to see something like spontaneous spacetime rifts that only she could interact and that could do a wide variety of stuff like spawning some unique mobs (could be new or altered versions of existing ones but that'd be expensive to implement) or spawn back some mobs like mctusks which would make the backtrek watches less of a pain to make ... There's a lot of potential based on the lore and the watches, and it'd be very disappointing to see skills that aren't unique and just tweak damage/defense/cd percentages.
