Current Wendy Should NOT go live

Same thing here, abi can now solo bosses and it's way weaker than having wendy participate in it. Should they remove it? absolutely not.

Now if they want to make things better, they should create more buttons to press so that I'm actually controlling things similar to maxwell. But, I can still fight with wendy.

Take maxwell for example, can you do an only shadow duelist fight? well, yes. Is that the only way to play him? no, you can join the fight.

Why can't wendy be the same and why it is so hard to understant something so simple like this.

that's exactly right. But the difference between you and me is that I go out of my comfort zone and actually confront people when I want something to be done instead of talking indirectly like you are. I am putting my opinion out here and trying to prove it so that it actually makes a difference in history, so maybe, just maybe, some dev will hear that there exists people who like to do only summoner playthroughs and not delete this feature from their game. Or they can simply decide not to do it, and I'll just move on with my day. They might just tell me to play max. But I want it with wendy. They might not do it, and I might just move on, yeah.

Atleast I'm trying to convince people of my side instead or arguing for purely no reason. If you stated your opinion and didn't develop it but only analized the situation to make fun of someone and saying they lack "skill" to understand it then you're just wasting your time bothering randoms on the internet. Please be constructive about the actual tone of the last 20 comments here.

Before skill trees, I could solo a whole bunch of creatures from the game, small ones. But for bosses I had to interact with as wendy.

To do that with maxwell, I have to play maxwell, and I don't like maxwell, I like wendy.

They could do that with wendy, and they did, it is live and I enjoy it. They could've develop it into adding more command attacks, but no worries.

Now you're telling me that this playstyle that already existed in dst since launch will not be developed or looked at JUST because the majority of people agree that it is not the "true canon way" of playing wendy. Jesus christ have some compassion.

I just watched a video from yt. Of abi soloing bosses and my eyes lit with happiness. I came to the forums to see if anyone was talking about it, and they're almost certaintly going to remove it, just like that?

How CAN'T I be sad about this?

yall don't realise that if any skilltree get delayed were gonna probably have to wait till february till we can get back to it, id also just prefer if we got it now and revised it later similar to wormwood's skill tree man just put the fries in the bag fr

Oh Oh Oh wait wait wait... What did you say? Perhaps I heard you saying that you DON'T want to participate in the fight and STILL kill deerclops? oh no. That's bad. You're having fun while playing a non competitive game? What about balance.

Let's see. I don't want to simply be able to do this like in the current state because I'm not grinding for it, I'm not amassing resources for it, I'm not fighting for it. I literally suggested klei to make the soul of critters the fuel of abi so we can spike her to her current state, so there atleast exists some kind of grinding behind it. So I'm not here saying I want wendy to have everything that max does but without the cost of playing max. All I'm saying is that killing mobs (and bosses) while being able to control abi is a way more interesting and fun experience than being forced to participate in the fight or else I'll do 20 damage per second..

And.. Klei did an amazing job ACTUALLY making so that we have to wait until day 11 and build a moon dial to create the interaction for that to happen. MILES BETTER than willow having a super reskinned controllable ice fire kamehameha at day 1 after burning 5 bees.

Good. I'd rather a developer were transparent, adaptable in their timeline, and just informed their players that they need more time to work on a major update and give it the diligence it needs. The weaker release and the increased challenges in pivoting toward any new directions once live are not worth it. I'd rather see features at their highest potential, not at their soonest.

Wormwood got lucky. Characters like Wigfrid did not. I'd really rather not cross my fingers.

Well, Abigail can still solo a buttload of spiders with ease, even if not Spider Queens.

I don't think the devs made any of the changes you listed specifically to nerf Wendy. They probably just wanted to spice up those mechanics/bosses.

Anyways, Abigail has always been able to solo random mooks, and I don't think it's a problem. It's part of the appeal of the character even... But well, that doesn't apply to bosses. That's all there is to it.

Yeah it would look like too much. But I don't see another way of adding more interaction other than making the player attack or else she does less damage.

They could probably just add vex interaction w/ brightshade sword as well.

I imagine that simply nerf both abi's damage, and buff vex by making wendy dealing extra planar damage to vexed enemy will do. If abi's damage is too low to solo bosses, people would spontaneously give up letting her solo it.

My two cents for Wendy.  Gestalt form drastically lowers your ability to farm enemy swarms.  But something I had a lot of fun with is changing to farming big, tough (non-boss enemies).  I liked one-shotting werepigs and two-shotting tallbirds and clockwork things.  It's like, I can't easily get lots of stingers and silk anymore, but instead I can get lots of football helmets and scotch eggs.  And that felt like a really nifty shift.  A+ ability.  Isn't necessarily better than swarm-clear, depending on the resources you want, but was refreshing.

Gestalt form is very strong against bosses, and if that needs reduced or removed in some way, I just hope she can still mop the floor with those sorts of bulky regular enemies I mentioned.  Like, if you go the route of requiring Wendy to get hits in to make Abigail attack, maybe give Abigail a couple of free hits before that requirement starts, so she can still make things like werepigs or tallbirds farmable - I feel like farming those sorts of creatures makes up for what you lose in switching to Gestalt form, and being able to hunt them without needing a weapon or armor has been a lot of fun, without feeling too overpowered.

If you're so fond of having Abigail work alone, why not just remove the character of Wendy and bring Abigail online? Don't be too selfish. The game must take care of the minds of the majority while remaining balanced and fair. Having Abbie Solo Boss is not only boring for most Wendy players, but also unfair to other players.
Worse still, it could happen that due to Abigail's power, most newbies would choose to play Wendy and sit there doing nothing, and they wouldn't have fun and experience, which would make Don't Starve a stupid game that went against what the game was designed for.
Also, I really hate it when people say Wendy is an op...... Your thoughts will only reinforce this stereotype and make others think that Wendy players are a boring bunch of newbies.

and thats how it has always been. the vex mechanic is best effective against single creatures. but the vex mechanic is not something that will keep me from letting abi do all the job.

But that's a point I already addressed. The steonger the mob, the higher level of interaction needed. 

Bees can be completely done by Abby. Spiders can actually kill her if they push her too far from Wendy while she's in a soothed state, and spider warrior can kill her in good enough numbers. So can frogs and monkeys.

But you do need to interact as I mentioned earlier. Yes, you can use elixirs, but that's wasting materials. And the game rewards you much more if you help Abby by attacking individuals to finish the horde faster. Not wasting materials on an elixir is a reward for helping Abby. And as the enemies get stronger, the game full on forces you to directly help her. People here have already mentioned spiderqueens and varglets. As many people mentioned, the playstyle you want is not the playstyle of Wendy.

If necessary, so should do it. A late update is just late update, but a bad update will remain a bad update for so long.

It would be OK it fixed like Wormwood, but what if it becomes like Wilson?

sry for taking my time but like, with wormwood's skilltree, he got further work after the release of his tree post beta. To the point that we have something that in my opinion is a great skill tree

it would never become like wilson because of many factors, such as him being perceived as a starter character and the fear of power creep

Hey sorry uhm I don’t mean to bother the developers when they’re all super super busy working and stuff but, I just have a question I wanted to ask @Jason Hey man how long is this beta expected to last, Im not asking for a release date or anything like that, just in general.. how long do betas last?

I know that the Return of Them Turn of Tides update stayed in Beta on PC for a full year before coming to Xbox.

Technically this beta can run up until next years Roadmap if it needed to.
