  1. I’m usually pretty calm, but whenever someone just strolls up to my Woby and opens it, I feel a sense of unbridled rage fill my body. This doesn’t happen with any other followers like Chester or Hutch, just with Woby. It’s irks me badly and I don’t know why.
  2. could there be a change to glove skins so Warley and Walter can wear glove like these? I want to wear this gloves without mismatched skin tones. Or is there a mod that can help me with this?
  3. Something I've noticed a lot of people have been struggling with is adding stories for Walter to tell that will be compatible with ones that are already there. Many people replace his story table, which means no other stories will be told other than the ones in that specific mod. In some cases you might want this, say if you're making a joke or a meme mod. However in most cases people want these stories to be told alongside other mods and the vanilla game, so here I will show how you do it properly. In its most basic form, this all will go in your modmain. (The forums hate me when it comes to formatting, so I'll provide a download link as well) This can be used in mods that aren't exclusively for stories as well. Imagine having secrets in your mod that are hinted about by Walter when he tells stories... If someone else's mod isn't compatible and people use it alongside yours, you can still let your stories show up by putting this line at the bottom of your modinfo. priority = -10 What this does is cause your mod to load after other mods by lowering the priority of it. Their mod will have already replaced the story table by the time yours adds stories to it. Hopefully this can help people who want to add stories. I love seeing the lore-friendly ideas other people have, it's fun to read them. modmain.lua
  4. Or the option should at least be there. Currently she just feels like a permanent Chester that you can't get rid of, and such with Chester, any valuables or materials you put in there are liable to get nicked. I believe to differentiate this character perk from an item that anyone gets to pick up, the option to "lock" Woby to only the player or "open" her up for everyone to use should be introduced, a button and the bottom of her inventory GUI akin to the "cook" option of a crock pot. This would open up Woby to be used much more like a bag pack, and allow Walter players to use their chest slot for other things (such as log armour) which synergies better with the rest of his kit (you put the hat on to lower sanity drain form getting hit, and body armour to stop the health drain). I think these changes to be necessary in order to form Woby into more of her own addition to the game, instead of a pet/Chester you spawn in with. Now I understand that there may be criticisms to this idea, which I would like to address now, but still welcome the discussion So anyway that was my post about what I believe to be a much needed feature for Walters furry friend, what do the other users of the forum think? (This post was just copied over from general discussion and formatting on mobile is very hard )

  6. I have a huge question. Can we play the new character offline like Warly? Will it end up online only like Wortox? Also, Why can't we go online and download the data for the 3 dlc characters to use later if we unlock them?
  7. Its not even funny how hard it is. Thats why i came here to ask for help. is there a way to kill BQ solo with walter? The damage is too high and using the slingshot takes too long. I didnt test it alot but i cant find a way to do it. Edit:i meant without cheeze(bunnymens and other shenanigans.)
  8. There should be an option for the owner of any Woby to lock and unlock their Woby. It doesn't sit right with me that anyone can just waltz up to her and mess around with my items however they wish. This is probably the final thing that would completely solidify Woby as an extension to my inventory, at least to me.
  9. I've seen good and bad ideas, and plenty of opinions about Walter's slingshot so I was thinking that maybe we should put them all together on a single thread. In all my tests with Walter the only thing that always leaves a sour flavor in my mouth is the slingshot. The way I see it, the slingshot is the item that needs rebalance the most. Rebalance, that is, not complete rework, but fine changes and adjustment to some values (think of Woodie transformations when he was released) Please feel free to suggest your balance thoughts, ideas and experiences with the slingshot in a creative way, if you want a specific change try to explain why, the pros and the cons, not just request a buff because "I don't like it". I'm also very interested to read other players experiences on my take of the rebalance, and what things I got wrong, or didn't understand how to use properly. Here's my analysis on the matter:
  10. Maybe I just missed like all of the discussion, but I have never seen anyone talk about additional slingshots/ upgrading your slingshot. The default slingshot is kind of slow and doesnt reach quite far, so why not change it depending of your current slingshot? Like, for example we could have a longshot (very creative name, why thank you) that is able to shot far away enemies. We can also have a multishot which fires 3 at once, or a nightshot which doesnt consume ammo, but drains sanity for each shot used, and additionally drains sanity like a dark sword. (To balance this one out, you cannot use ammo that was made by moon rock) Then talking about the upgrades...you could also upgrade your slingshot (temporary or permanently, idk whats more balanced) to each shot states above. What do you think and if you enjoy, what other slingshot ideas do you have?
  11. Hello! I’m discussing with a close friend of mine and we were talking about Walter and we have two clashing opinions about his Fearless motto and that it may not be so accurate. We saw the game update which says "Walter’s fearlessness no longer prevents sanity loss while equipping Night Armor and Dark Sword. It was not intended to protect him from the effects of shadow magic." I personally liked it because I think that this ability of not fearing shadow magic should be left for now to Maxwell(I mean, We have Wendy who doesn't seem too bothered about it, however she will still lose sanity.), however this makes me a little bit confused about his motto and also his contradicting quotes that he says. However she didn’t think there was anything wrong with him not being afraid of holding a dark weapon of any sort or armor and him not losing sanity. She said that it’s a part of his personality and she could understand the bees because he’s allergic etc., but dark magic has little to do with him, so why would he be afraid? She didn't see the point in adding another fear because he’s already scared of getting hurt and of bees. She thinks adding another fear really discredits his character. So we decided to ask the community about your opinion. Are you enjoying this change or not? Tell us. We really want to bring this topic to light, since we enjoy playing this character, however we also do care about his personality.
  12. Im just gonna go for it and put this image in front of you: I found this in the new walter short. Its obviously lucy. And then i was like: Because lucy is with woodie right? And we know walter came after woodie so what is THIS.!?!?!TELL MEE SMART PEOPLE!! Sory for shouting i need answers.
  13. I'm just basically gonna copy/paste walter's speech file here for ease of access. 14. So, after a session with some friends while playing with Walter, we've discovered a few glitches and bugs, i don't know if the PC version has these or not, as i play on PS4, so, lets move on to the glitches. 1. Walter's Ghost is invisible. When you die Walter's ghost doesn't appear, but this is only a visual glitch, and you can still interact with everything else. 2. The portable tent map icon. When a portable tent is placed down, instead of it's map icon showing, it shows Warly's portable grinder icon. 3. While telling stories his hat goes missing. Very self explanatory. 4. The Tophat is invisible while on the floor. When dropped on the floor the Tophat becomes invisible. 5. Other characters receive the "tell a story" prompt. When near a campfire as any character it will give you the option to tell a story, if you're not Walter however they'll just say "only_used_by_walter" 6. Dismantling a tent while being used. If you try to dismantle a tent that IS occupied the character will say "only_used_by_warly" i imagine because the first item with a dismantle option was warly. 7. Recovering burnt portable tents. If a portable tent is burnt and then dismantled it'll come back like nothing ever happened. 8. Portable tent duplication. I really like this one, but i know that it has to be patched, if you spam the dismantle button on a portable tent it'll restart the animation, however it'll still give you a portable tent back, making it possible to have infinite portable tents. (And gives a great willow sanity station) I think that's all the ones i found, i hope these get fixed soon, they aren't bad, as they don't really change much and most are visual glitches, but the tent one is just very broken.
  15. Now there is no discussion really to say how broken that is; before Klei nerfs those pellets, go farm Marble Pellets. They stack to 60 after all, and you can just drop them on ground since Moleworms don't steal them. Clarification: This is a pretty decent ranged attack that is very easy to mass produce considering Marbles can be farmed at a x2.5 rate every 10 Days. This is also agnostic for most boss specific mechanics; you can pretty much do the same with any boss, including Fuelweaver.
  16. Introduction So, this part of Walter's animated short in particular has caught my attention. More specifically, the flashlight and magnifying glass (which is also featured in his Boy Detective portrait). Also that thing on the right, but I can't actually tell what it is. If anyone knows, I'll try to add that in too. I feel like there's some cool potential that could come out of these items, which could further solidify Walter's place as a scout. Handy Flashlight I feel a flashlight (or a torch, whatever you wanna call it) could have a good place in Walter's kit. He'd enter the Constant with one in his pocket. It would be most comparable to a lantern at its base. Lightbulbs and fireflies could be put into it to restore durability, and it could be toggled on and off. However, a few things would make it unique. Firstly, instead of the typical radial light, the flashlight would provide light in a cone shape in front of Walter. Of course, it'd have a tiny bit of radial light around him, but not a lot. Just barely enough to keep someone safe, but not enough to keep them from the negative sanity aura. Walking around in the dark with a flashlight is scary! But Walter isn't afraid of anything. The next big thing is that the flashlight could be given to Woby! This would alter her AI a bit, and make her focus on staying close to Walter. It would work with both big and small Woby. Great for earlygame scouting! Your reliable doggy friend keeps you illuminated as you explore the world at night, while allowing you to have WHATEVER you want in all of your equipment slots. Wanna chop trees? You can. Wanna mine rocks? You can. Do it while wearing your Pinetree Pioneer hat! Do it while wearing your Beefalo Hat! Ride Woby at night while keeping your Trusty Slingshot in hand! And a bunch of smaller, less substantial things. Walter's flashlight only provides light when held by a player, or by Woby, meaning it cannot be dropped on the ground for light. Its durability would be around half of a lantern, but fuel would be more effective. If Walter or Woby use the flashlight, its durability would drain twice as slow (making it equal to a lantern's). Walter can use the flashlight's durability while telling campfire stories to make them twice as effective. Crafting recipe would be cheaper than that of a lantern. Conceptual recipe: 1 Lightbulb, 2 Gold Nuggets, 1 Log Overall, the flashlight would be a reliable source of light, one that can allow Walter to scout about as he pleases right out of the gate. Magnifying Glass The magnifying glass would not be a tangible item, but rather an ability. This one's way less substantial, but I think it would be fun. What really got me thinking was this portrait here. This alone gave me the idea. After uncovering a Suspicious Dirt Pile, Walter could right click it. This would make him bring out his magnifying glass and do a little inspecting animation. Afterwards, he would identify what creature is at the end of the trail. Not sure if it would be something as blunt as "Yep. Definitely a Ewecus." or something more vague like "Are those... boogers? Haha, gross!", "There's a bunch of smaller prints inside of this one. Weird.", "This one smells gross." Combined with his flashlight, this would allow him to be an even better scout. No need to waste time at night, go track down some meat! It's a Ewecus? Back out immediately, and go do something else. That's a boy scout-y thing to do, right? Tweaks? Can't think of a lot of tweaks. I think he's fine, for the most part. Maybe make his slingshot a bit faster? Poop Pellets should not be seen as an attack by mobs that protect each other, and maybe could work on bosses and minibosses if you use enough of them. Slow Down Rounds could use a recipe tweak, or maybe some more usefulness to make them worth their price. Cursed Rounds could use some extra base damage, and more reliable shadow tentacles. Something I saw someone else suggest was a cheaper recipe for the campfire? That actually doesn't sound bad, seeing as he boasts about being able to make campfires so much. Conclusion I'm gonna be honest. I kinda like Walter as is. Seeing these ideas make it in the game would be cool, but ultimately, I'm not gonna stop liking him either way. I've always been optimistic about him, and now that he's out, I'm not disappointed. I do think the suggested tweaks would make him a bit more enjoyable, though. What do you guys think about this? Are these decent, or am I just dumb? Do they add more things to an already cluttered character? Are these ideas too big to be added post-release? Can someone please tell me what the thing on the right is? At the very least, I want this thread to be a place where everyone can put in their own ideas for Walter, and have them all be discussed.
  17. Hello friends of the constant, recently a character named Walter has been added into the game giving us slingshot rounds. A thing that has been added to the game are slow down rounds which give us the ability to slow down enemies, which Gives Walter a better chance to shoot and hit enemies, but the only problem I have is that there's not really a timer or a particle effect letting you know if the enemy has been slowed down or if it's about to run out. And that is a huge thing especially if the mob surprises you with out of nowhere speed while you're still expecting it's slower speeds. What I suggest is maybe an icon or effect, such as pointed down arrows circle around the target, (to look as if they are weighing down the creature) and dissappear one by one as the slow down timer goes down. I'll try to draw it later, but I want to see what you guys think of this?
  18. Walter struggles a bit to gather Stingers, but everyone else has a trash load in their backyard. Even if Stingers do not convert by 1:10 ratio, and even if it doesn't do much damage, it would still be awesome to use them up for something.
  19. It would be cool when Walter is ridding Woby. She can do a dog paddle across water that separates a land. She can't paddle in the ocean because she is scared of the monsters underneath? I mean you can use boats to do that in the late game to jump across as it requires 8 logs each. Why I'm suggesting because Woby is kinda slow :P she is trying her best. But is a very good girl. Walter and Woby has a lot of abilities already. Do you guys think it would feel cluttered?
  20. When Walter was added i was exited for a ranged character. When i got to play him in game for a few hours i found that his sling shot wasn't really fun to use after using it for a while. I found that his range for firing the Sling shot was fairly short for a ranged weapon, meaning you could only get one and two shots before the enemy was able to hit you. It doesn't help that the reload speed for the sling shot was slow, making the damage output worse than a spear over time. With the slow reload speed and short range its tedious in combat because you have to keep taking one shot or two and backing up, making your damage output even worse. The sling shot is not viable against enemies that move at a decent speed, like hounds, merms, koalaphants, etc, since you get hit by them by just shooting one shot. When just pressing the f key, the slingshot aim for birds and other small creatures and not the monster in from of you, making fighting against enemies annoying. The slingshot only really excels against targets that are really slow or cant even move at all, like tentacles and treegaurds. Its not really helpful since you don't really encounter many slow enemies. The sling shot is also good for birds and drawing aggro to certain monsters. I would use it a lot more if the firing range was a lot longer or the reload speed was faster. This is my thoughts about it and i would like to hear yours too.
  21. Welcome to here! Right here! Are you ready to accept my challenge? Okay then!!! (NO? WHY NOT? ) All you need to do is to power your fantasy and positive at maximum and continue the comic I am leaving here! I will be very happy to see how many people change DS Characters' fate! >:D You will need just to tell who will be after who, so there won't be any faults, errors and etc... And you need to draw the continuing part of comic, and there you go, we have many generations of art, humor and feelings. Maybe something else. You can make ANY situation you want! We really will be glad to see it here! Go ahead! Try it! You must draw the continue. I DOESN'T matter how long it could be. As about spoilers, I don't really want to know what the WILL be. I just want to SEE it. Get it? You can do anything, for your though, what the character will do next and what will happen next. Below I will tell who will be after who, okay? ovo Do you have any questions? :'D I SAID NOW!!! So, let's do this! :
