Skill tree suggestions for ALL the remaining characters v2

Recommended Posts

Continuing the discussion on this compilation:

Let me know if you guys have more ideas.

Wendy:

- Mourning Light: Increased Abigail light radius

- Sisterhood Sacrifice: Item that weakens Wendy making her unable to attack, but Abigail amplifies damage even more

- Animal Companionship: Beefalo perks like reduced taming time

- Phantom Tactician: Item (or flower function) that allows to command Abigail to go to target location and fight

- Floral Flora: Ability to make a planter pot for flowers to get petals ( not my idea, just advertising skile's thread )

- From Beyond: Ability to fight as a ghost similar to Abigail when dead, so that you can be someone else's "Abigail" after you achieve your dream of dying finally like a true Wendy main

WX:

- Overclocking: Allows more speed or damage at the cost of health the more you run/fight (similar chargeup to shipwrecked obsidian weapons)

- Packed Circuitry: More circuit slots (but at a drawback like heavily increased hunger drain when over default circuit limit)

- Charge Insulation: Ability to retain some charge when unplugging

Maxwell:

- Pocket dimension: Ability to unsummon shadows temporarily

- Delving Insanity: Ability to conjure shadow creatures on demand to farm shadows (at a cost)

- Puppet Follower: Long shot, but I miss the ability to have the old shadow puppets that follow you, maybe there is a chance. How about giving a nmfuel to a shadow servant/fighter will make him follow you like old maxwell.

- Shadow Mastery: (Fully shadow aligned) Ability for maxwell's shadows to not be targettable by monsters and AoE

- Maxwell should only align with shadows only, similar to how wormwood is celestial only

Warly:

- Butcher: Chance to get extra meat products on slaughtering animals

- Varied Diet: Gain extra stats on non-repeat eats

- Maman's Casserole: Special plating casserole that allows crockpot dishes to not spoil, but limits stacksize to 1

- Sushi master: Slaughtering fish is 3x as fast

- Fancy Dining: Special dining table that allows to display a crockpot food item. Eating from this table will grant you +15 sanity instead of the +5 sanity.

- Yum master: The more consecutive different dishes you eat, the more food restores to you

Wortox:

- Hop Distance: Increased max jump distance on map

- Hop Haste: Healing causes people to move faster for 3-5 seconds

- Hop Efficiency: Extra double jumps (can jump triple or quadruple times with one soul)

- Scent of Life: Ability to see health of creatures.

- Soul Limit: Increase your soul limit up to double.

- Into Shadows: (Shadow aligned) Ability to jump into an unexplored map area. Ability to consume nightmare fuel and pure horror for horrendous effects.

- Into Lunacy: (Lunar aligned) Ability to consume brilliance to give you stats and glowing effect lasting multiple days

Wicker:

- Tentacle Speaker: Tentacles don't hit wicker for the first 5 seconds of presence

- Horticulture Adept: Increases number of crops/plants grown with the respective books

- Scribe: Ability to make papyrus more efficiently

- Book Pouch: Backpack that carries books and recharges them like bookcase

- Speed Reader: Faster reading animation.

- Controllable books: Can choose target location for books like On Tentacles or End is Nigh

Winona:

- Lightbulb Moments: Increased light radius on spotlight

- Reinforcements and barricades: Basically a cheaper way to make statue walls, but ones that look like barricades instead

- Engineer 1: Ability to utilize her machineries more effectively (longer duration in generator for instance)

- Engineer 2: Ability to man (or woman?) her catapults for increased shooting speed

- Engineer 3: She can man generators and spotlights too for increased effect

- Engineer 4: Machineries that she mans are now controllable in location

- Industry 1: New item: Conveyor belt can move items placed on it in a direction

- Industry 2: New item: Assembler - Can configure a recipe to craft based on items coming in on a conveyor belt

- Industry 3: New item: Aspirator - Can suck up nearby items, including chests

- Industry 4: New item: Battery - Can store electrical charge

- Industry 5: Powerline: Can transport power from a generator

- The new items all require power

- The factory must grow

Wurt:

- Nurture Swamplife: Ability to grow tentacles in a swamp turf

- Waterborn: No penalties on wetness (like coldness or sanity loss)

- Sliding fins: More movespeed on wetness

- Fish Barter: Get more resources from merm king the heavier a fish is

- Aquamarine: Ability to swim (cute swim animation of course)

Walter:

- Train Resilience: Not getting knocked off Woby for more attacks

- Train Grit: Woby being able to fight

- Train Fetch: Woby can grab items on ground in mouth and bring em to you

- Domestication: Train Woby to be as good as a beefalo

- Power charge: Ability to do more damage with a slingshot the more you charge it (which conserves ammo)

- Angel Woby: Woby pulls you away from danger before getting hit by grabbing your pants and tugging you away from an attack. Cooldown (30-10 seconds, depending on level)

- Durable Pebbles: Walter's slingshot ammo drops on the ground after they hit the target with a chance (up to 100% with 3 skill points)

Webber:

- Web Communication: An item that allows webber to send spiders to a location (to stay or fight)

- Spider storage: Ability for webber to place spiders inside a nest for storage

- Arachnid Tactician: A silky item book that allows to configure your spiders to stay in a particular formation relative to you and be able to change formations on the fly by clicking on each formation book you have devised from your inventory.

- Spider Sense: An ability to see the attack range of monsters and when they attack

- Queen Domestication: Ability to domesticate and ride spider queens. Subsequent levels in skill tree increases queen speed.

- Spider Powers: Each switcherdoodle gives webber temporary powers when eaten similar to the spiders they represent

Wanda:

- I think she's perfect. But if you have to give her tech trees give her minor things, like reduced time drain, reduced cooldowns on her portals, and other things of such nature, mostly quality of life.

- She should only be able to be shadow aligned, like wormwood can be lunar aligned only.

Wes:

- Wes tech tree is now a meme tree, every skill tree does extra silly and annoying things that make people laugh or cringe like pantomiming at passerby's for increased sanity and being able to Choo-Choo "Wes charge" to a spot for extra movespeed pretending to be in an invisible train. I'm serious, just maximize silliness and cringe, so that Wes mains can feel at home.

Any other ideas please feel free to share them here

I think a cool ability to wortox would be, the reaper of souls or soul reaper, when a creature is at a certain health amount like 25 hp or a certain percentage of it's max health, he can right click it and claim its soul after a short cast, that would also help him gather souls, probably would be shadow align but it would be could if it had no alignment.

Walter Ideas!

Giant slingshot that can only be mounted onto big woby that has AOE rounds that can mine/chop. This would give big woby a irreplaceable use as a mount that beefalos can't replace. Also with big ranged AOE rounds that can mine/chop would help make Walter useful for fighting toadstool/killing AFW woven shadows or for general resource harvesting.

Also i believe this is the fairest way to buff slingshot. Picking up pellets that bounce off mobs would be tedious as f, wouldn't use that skill ever.

Skill to buff pinecone hat by giving Walter an upgraded version to craft like wigfrid got the commander helm. This upgraded pinecone hat would be a jack of all trades weather survival gear, the first of its kind, having both tier 2 summer/winter insulation and 50% rain protection alongside basic pinecone hat ability of reduced sanity loss on hit. This would incentivize 24/7 use of walters hat and encourage the use of body armour with it. Second skill for the upgraded pinecone hat could remove all sanity loss on damage so long as you are wearing the hat.

See spoiler for my ghillie suit idea for Walter:

Spoiler

Ghillie suit

  • Recipe: 1x grass suit, 5x pond plant (make plants around ponds pickable), 3x silk
  • Durability: 630
  • Protection: 70%
  • Walter gains 3.3 sanity a minute while wearing ghillie suit (he enjoys being wrapped in nature)
  • Walter can hide similar to bush hat, this drains durability of ghillie suit, lasts for 1 day total when hiding.
  • When hiding woby begins to bark instantly drawing aggro away from Walter, mobs including bosses begin to chase after woby but dont attack her. When 5x regular mobs or a boss is chasing woby, Walter has a -50 sanity drain per minute. (-10 sanity drain per regular mob)
  • Woby hold aggro for 4secs after you stop hiding, this allows you abit of time to escape hordes. You continue to lose sanity for these 4secs.
  • Walter can fire slingshot from hiding position without breaking ghillie suit camouflage, doesn't draw aggro to Walter.
  • When shooting a boss every slingshot pellet has a 2% chance of instantly drawing aggro to Walter. This causes Walter to break hiding with a quote and the ghillie suit goes on a 8sec cooldown before being able to re-hide.
  • Shadow creatures ignore hiding mechanic and woby bait to attack Walter directly. Sanity management is the downside to using the ghillie suit.

Walter needs a unique body armour to encourage people to not use backpacks as him. He's a character that "should" reward you for using pinecone hat + body armour instead of standard head armour + backpack. Ghillie suit also incentivizes people (mostly noobs) to craft the very underrated grass suit which combined with pinecone hat will help prevent noob-Walter insanity death spirals.

Ghillie suit would be a fitting survivalist armour for the boy scout that makes his slingshot more viable for day to day combat and with bosses as long as you can manage the sanity drain. Also it's simply good for losing aggro incase you get swarmed.

i love jumping into unexplored areas so i can drown in the ocean or the edge of the void, so i dont think thats good

In the backend it would place you at the nearest land at your teleport location

The world engine itself loads all the turf and landmasses on clientside

For Webber I think there would be so many possible cool skills
1- Shared Sweets, basic spiders fed switcherdoodles have a chance to share with other spiders and make more of that type (basically just letting you turn 2-3 spiders into nurses/spitters//whatever using 1 cookie)

2- Spider Sitter, Webber can build a structure to store spiders in like a tin bin. The image in my mind is one of those cat fort things covered in web instead of carpet.

3-King of the Bugs, Webber can catch any bug with his hands, not needing a net (I just want to catch butterflies without making a net pls klei)

4-Taste Your Own Cooking, Webber can eat his own cookies for cool little powers depending on the cookie. (I've seen people saying this would just be Woodie, but I disagree. Woodie is a whole different creature and fighting style in wereform. Webber's would be something like, eating a nurse doodle makes you drop healing cloud every 10 hits or so. You're still Webber, but with extra buffs)

5- Bite is Worse than Bark, hired spiders can use their sharp teeth to chop down trees, but it's quite slow. Maybe spiders have half efficiency at chopping?

6- Father's Collection, Wagstaff hands Webber a collection of his father's research, allowing him to make his spiders lunar planar and buffs all hired spiders in general.

7- Queen's Creations-  Charlie shows Webber how to make Shadow Doodles, which allow Webber to create shadow versions of his 6 legged friends. Also stronger versions using pure horror.

A way better title for 7 would be Queens Confections. Hate I thought of that after pressing send.

I really like this idea

But not this, that would just be removing his main downside, and I think this downside is important for making him interesting and balancing against his sanity drain immunity

I like the idea of training Woby, she is a dog and it would help make Woby strong in the late game without being overtuned at the start. We could probably use more skills that require actions in game to activate rather than being crazy right at the start

This would be so sick! I'd instantly become a Walter main if he had something like this. The load up time (Feed woby, attach Giant Slingshot, mount Woby, charge up, fire) seems fair for how powerful it'd be. There's a lot of tweaks to reload/shot time, range, power, and mobility with it on that can keep it balanced but good.

I'll list off my concerns or inputs on each of these as best I can.

  1. Butcher, seems pretty good, although I wouldn't mind unique cuts of meat rather then just more meat. There is a fair amount of food overflow at times in this game, but making new stuff would definitely be more appealing for a multitude of reasons. It could open up new dishes for warly to make, and some more options brought to him early on could aid newer players in adjusting because they could have more food to cycle through, with potential for other special cuts of meat from unique mobs to make better dishes later on.
  2. Varied Diet, I would argue after playing warly so much in my time, I can see why people would miss his old mechanic of gaining boosted effects from his meals. It made it so warly could have more of a nomadic playstyle, traveling wherever he felt like and being resourceful with what was available and benefiting a lot off a little at times. However, I would argue this style of play is still present, additional stats would largely be unnecessary and would mess with the flow that warly ought to have, mixing it up is important and with stats getting bloated, it reduces the need to mix it up detracting from the intended way of play. It's already a bit awkward with the meaty stew slamming a lot of people tend to do.
  3. Maman's Casserole, I had to think about this one, since a casserole is a type of food, I thought to myself "is this some sort of turducken thing where we stuff other foods into another one for preservation?". Then I realized you meant a literal dish lol. The idea is interesting but, not terribly useful, feels like what one would call a "fall off" perk where in the further into the game you get, the more trivial or ineffective compared to other options it becomes. This does sound however like a good name for a recipe in warly's cookbook.
  4. Sushi master, I will be totally honest, this feels like a lesser additional perk that would be either tacked on another perk, or just something base kit. I can't say killing fish faster is necessary, however, the prospect of warly being able to tell if a fish is large or not due to his experience as a trawl fisher would be great. A perk like this could also have the bonus or focus since the name, of producing specialty fish dishes using a knife and just raw fish or live fish at a chopping table of some sort. Cook something up or make some sushi when your out at sea, heck why not both.
  5. Fancy Dining, A nice dinner table craft would be nice, even better if warly could make them bigger based on how many people he want to serve at once, similar to the winters feast table. (but instead of eating edible magic slop, they have proper meals) Oh man would it be nice to have a nice dining table with a viking mess hall mass of food on the table, for balance purposes if you want to add more to the table you would need to add unique dishes, so only one plate of a thing at a time. Could be a great way to share food in some capacity, beyond just giving a friend a full dish, you could split it.
  6. Yum master, I really would hope for more leaning into the downside, so at face this is pretty good, I do worry this just becomes a combo system where you end up cycling only a few food options, so I am only concerned about this because ideally, warly would be encouraged and incentivized in more ways to have a great amount of variety.

Love the discussion being brought up, it's always fun to talk about these things genuinely.

I mean, cycling between a handful of dishes would still be more interesting than downing meaty stews every few days

Honestly combined with a higher stack size this would be a perfect way to make his playstyle feel less expensive.

While not being part of the skill tree I feel like Walter should also be able to access items in Woby's bag while he's riding her.

As for skill additions Woby should be able to go around collecting items off the ground, saplings, grass tuffs, bushes, and reeds on command in exchange for hunger and store them in her bag.

Wendy Shadow Alignment Skill:

Shadow Channeler - The Shadow Queen will reward your loyalty with the secrets of Possession

  • Craft the sisterly mask, using a sages masque, mourning glory & either pure horror or possessed shadow atrium.
  • Can be given to any follower mob to have them Possessed by the spirit of Abigail
  • Abigail now speaks through possessed mops, similar to Lucy
  • Possessed mobs inflict Planar Damage, Hex & gain Planar Protection
  • Possessed mobs remain permanently loyal
  • Wendy's Potions have modified effects
    • Revenant Restorative/ Spectral Cure All/ Vigor mortis retain function
    • Unyielding draught reactivates Abigail's shield
    • Distilled Vengeance grants Abigail 40% armor and Bramble Husk
    • Nightshade Nostrum reactivates Abigial's AOE attack
  • When the mob Abigail's poses sing dies, It is dropped on the ground And Abigail spawns as her form prior to Possessing the Mob.

That's my bad, I was trying to say that I would like the idea, but I would like it if the original intent of warly's food variety is in tact or endorsed in a way that feels meaningful rather then some other ideas tossed around that end up detracting from the quirk rather then complimenting it.

I just want warly to retain some of what he is when the perks roll around.

I disagree with your suggestions for Warly. Most of these perks are extremely bland imo, not adressing his current problems as a swap character.
I see your suggestions as "hey here are alternatives that get outclassed by current methods", like the chef pouch to the back pack.

I like the idea of Warly having stronger perks for himself, and even some perks that are him-only and unique, like how Winona got both charlie's shenanigans and telebrella/baby wobot.
I think he deserves to have his buffs, when applied to him, be superior to any other character's way of doing that, just because of how rare and hard it is to get in comparison.
Just give the poor man something unique that isnt covered by another character, while still letting him use those abilities in a supportive way.

我感觉Warly玩起来不舒服的地方在于在于他的特色菜吃起来过于浪费,我想要无副作用吃火龙果料理度过冬季,而不需要暖石

What I find uncomfortable about Warly is that his special dish is too wastefully eaten.  I want to eat dragon fruit without side effects to get through the winter without the need for warm stones

我想要一个更强大的厨师锅,方便大量烹饪需求

I want a more powerful chef's pot that is convenient for a large number of cooking needs

不知道给Warly多个种子换取食物的技能会不会太强力,非巨大作物的产量太低了,厨师也不想种地

I wonder if the ability to give Warly multiple seeds in exchange for food is too powerful, the yield of non-giant crops is too low, and the cook doesn't want to farm
