Rock lobster - the new ally klei have given us. Utilize them wisely.

A lot people seem to hate the fact more rocklobster spawning in cave, but i would like to prove them wrong.

But after actually play the game and see how they actually work in a running world, this is my experience:

  1. Masked rock lobster will try to kill normal rock lobster, but they cant because rock lobster keep hiding and regen heal.
  2. Masked rock lobster will never go to hide and heal, make them easier to kill than normal ones.
  3. New rock lobster keep spawn and making rock lobster population ratio be 1 Masked rock lobster + 4~5 normal rock lobster.
  4. Herd mechanic remain the same, with herd close together will merge together.

All of this make rock lobster spawn everywhere in cave, but not to the point infinite, as newly spawn rock lobster will join previous spawned rock lobster herd.
You can hire all 4 rock lobster to kill the masked rock lobster for the cost of few rocks, and you ll have one clean rock lobster herd.
Clean rock lobster herd will kill newly spawned masque mobs, or take agroo if the masque mob is rocklobster itself.

If you can keep 4~5 rock lobster near slurtle slime dens, they ll take agroo and somewhat protect the dens, if you want to protect them.

Klei literally give us the solution to masque spawning inside masque spawning itself, rock lobster, the guardian for us all along.
And now you can hire 20 rock lobster or spawn rock lobster inside ruin for them to auto kill clockworks, which is amazing!

This is exactly why I don’t want this. Once you have a rock lobster herd, it is extremely hard to remove it. Sure, it won’t cause the game to get to the point of lagging, but I also don’t exactly want to have dozens of rock lobsters on all of my bridges in the caves, let alone my ruins that I specifically made without lobsters in mind.

I didn’t like rock lobsters back when they had major overpopulation issues back in 2014 DS, and I am not exactly in the happiest mood to find out there’s another problem that can also cause them to overpopulate unless you specifically check every shadow masque herd…

Yeah I didn’t understand the complaint about rock lobsters getting new herds, isn’t that freaking amazing?
Rock lobsters are the most chill mob in the entire cave biome, I’d love to have them everywhere to take aggro from everything else trying to kill me lol.
I'm on a mission to spawn as many of them near tentapillars as I can before Klei gives in and patches out them forming new herds.
Also they are so easy to kill, they can’t even regen HP.

Mob war is a thing. Just give rock to half of them and let them fight each other. It is not that hard. The game is not about press F to kill all rock lobster.
When only one alive, bring them to another rock lobster herd and let it die by trying killing other rock lobster.

If you specifically dont want rock lobster in certain area, start the killing progress early, they ll die quite fast. And when it start with only 1 masked rock lobster, the fight is literally just the same as treeguard fight as they wont go to hiding.

I kill lots of masked bunnyman and rabbit king appear anger on me. I dont think they are animated corpse at all.

Rock lobster as a follower or even populating more of the caves feels unneeded unwanted and unnecessary. They are awful in keeping their loyalty, they hide most of the time when being struck, there is nothing we can use in the caves to fight them (toadstool especially cause of boomshrooms and taunt losing roars) I don't see why we ever needed them when they give nothing useful and are too hard to kill alone.

Nothing before, but we have masque now. Back then without masque your statement would be true, but without rock lobster herd and masque keep spawn off screen from time to time, there will be a day where there are area fully infected with masque and you can do nothing to clear it.

As i said in the original post, rock lobster herd is the natural answer to masque spawning, as they ll fight each other and balance things out, so things wont go out of control.
