Giant Worm Day 16

Recommended Posts

Ok im not sure if this is a bug so i wont report it but i need to know what other people experiences are. We have giant worm spawned day 16 an since i dont know how to read code idk if this enter for the chances or if something is broken. but if is working as intended i think its too much, too early for it to spawn, we definitely were not expecting it.
So what is the earlyest (?) you are having them?

just like varglets as i expected and fear would happen....why are they allowed to spawn in the first year? its stupid, the worm is an even bigger offender for being first year, at least with varglets you can just run to pigs or beef or litteraly anything and at some point it sould go awayyyyyyyyyy

The worm despawns if you ignore it.

there's a 0% chance for it spawning at the start of the world but it gets a 5% increase after every worm wave that it doesn't spawn from up to 50% and only resets back to 0% after it spawns so you got lucky with the 5% chance proccing and making it spawn from the 2nd worm wave that ever happened in the world

so it is working as intended. Boy the new players surely will love to get lucky as me

They will love it as much as regular worm waves with the difference of kitting one enemy is easier than kitting multiple 75 damage sponge enemies

Varglets are easier than a regular hound wave lol

Nah if You don't know You have to feed it, You can't outrun Big worm without cane wich You Will not have on day 16. But You can outrun normal worms without it

I didnt try the fight without cane but i bet you can kite it just fine and you can easily know you need to feed him basically because they eat what they destroy so the player will end up experience a lot of munching without intentionally feeding him

I can 100% give my testimony on this. Exactly what I have experienced :)

So uhh down in caves there are the heavily under used minion types you can hire called Rock Lobsters, you can hire those by feeding them Rocks.

Which I wish I would’ve known early in my newbie stages of play because I ran like hell away from them thinking anything that looked like Ben 10s biggest enemy Vilgax was instantly evil and intended to murder me.

For anyone that has tried it… how do these Minions fair against the caves worm? In my head I picture because they’re made of rock they’d be far more tankier than using pigs/Bunnymen.

I really wish this Were the case, Rock Lobsters go heavily underutilized as minions.

And on that note: They could do cool stuff like Catch falling cave boulders after rifts are opened or something too.

Caves content really does need more love, And I got really excited when JoeW teased Depths of Duplicity as being a Caves Content Update.

Unfortunately… most of that update is locked behind Shadow Rifts & doesn’t really improve caves outside of that.

Maybe maybe not, the chance to not much nothing is always there. And no without cane it's same speed so if it doesnt munch something in the way it Will always be at the same distances from you

I think everyone is missing the point of the post, i didnt talk about how hard or how easy it is or nothing, i talked about it spawning day 16 wich i thought was something broken because i ofc wasnt expecting giant worm in the Wave that was grumbling so early so i was just chilling waiting for the worms i have no problem killing them.

But it doesnt matter anymore since someone up there explaines to me what the odds are.

Rocklobsters ha

Oh I wasn’t trying to say you were bad at fighting him or anything I was genuinely asking a question how rock lobsters fair against helping to fight it.

The update was delayed for us Xbox players so I have yet to get a proper introduction to fighting him.

And perhaps what’s worse, anyone who updated the game to the new content update prior to Klei rolling it the prior update due to a bug they found, literally can’t play the game right now until we get that update.

So I’m just chilling on the forums asking questions and coming up with strategies on how to kill said Worm.

And on that note: Can you force it to eat harmful foods like red mushrooms to do self health damage?

dont worry im bad, it was my first encounter and we both died xDD but i posted it not because i think its hard (there are plenty of those arround here) but becaue i thought maybe it wasnt intended to spawn so early (imo) but instead of post as bug, since i dont know if it was a bug and i dont know to dive into code, i choosed to ask others experiences. And i got the coded explained now and know its not a bug.
till think its too early but thats opinion, now i know i should expected it that early.

Is the big worm supposed to replace a depth worm wave? Yesterday I got 5 regular depth worms mixed with a giant worm boss. Felt a bit too much to be honest, I couldn't fight them together so just kept running around like an idiot, they wouldn't let me breathe let alone land a hit to stop to attack anything. I was using a brightshade staff I happened to have on hand and ended up killing some of the smaller worms but it took forever. Is it a glitch to have it spawn in addition to the max size worm wave? Or was that Klei's original intention? I can only imagine this in a multiplayer but each person gets a worm with 5 small worms together in one spot, it's way too difficult compared to getting a varglet to replace a couple of hounds in a wave.

Might be a bug

Use the great depth worm against the smaller ones. The thorns damage them and they get aggro on him, dealing damage aswell on the big worm. Klei gave us, finally, the same design counterpart of fire hounds and ice hounds.
