Unable to get Dark Tatters from first Rift due to Mimics Instead of Ink Blights

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of a beta run where I rushed Fuelweaver and opened the shadow rifts, hoping to get the maul. However, the ink blight trio never spawned from the first rift. I eventually console skipped 20 days and the blights spawned on me immediately.

After some testing, it seems that whenever a rift opens, a random thrall type is selected. If mimic is selected, the blights won't appear and there's no way to get tatters until the next rift in 20 days (or longer, if the next rifts are also mimics).

Please add some way to guarantee blights/tatters from every rift cycle - having to wait an extra 20 days (or longer) to build any shadow rift items because mimics were selected first is not good. Maybe select the mimics if the blights aren't triggered or were the previous thrall type that rift?

Credits to @grm9 for help figuring out what was going on. Command to show thrall type: c_announce(c_find("shadowrift_portal").components.riftthralltype:GetThrallType())

I don't get why they did it like this. It's the endgame, people are looking for challenge, why make them wait?

There are also players who don't want to play the early-mid game so they rush the rifts and grind for the endgame gear. Why make them wait for days?

why would of all things the mimics that are pretty much harmless and dont drop anything realy block the other rift enemies? like that makes no sense to me, imagine the moon rift just randomly makes you not able to get the things

You know....this might have been what they were going to do with brightshades now that I think about it.

Wait… what ? Am I reading this wrong ? There's a chance that during a whole upcoming rift cycle, the Inkblights will not be spawning from fissures at ALL ? Just because we be getting silly mimics instead ? And it could happen on the next rifts too ? What in the world is this idea ?

Please salvage this, it’s awful, I love to fight those guys.

I guess if you need some place to shove those mimics it would rather be the rift portal itself and they wander far off + only spawn that falling blob mob during this time too ? Like once it’s the Fused Shadelings, next time it’s those two new mobs ? I mean it if I say that the blob mob is really ruining the Shadow Rifts for me rn.

If not this or something else that can isolate them seriously I don’t want them in the game at all. I'm sorry but I'm not enjoying this creature so far. Same would go for the mimics if they cut fun content on long periods. Who thinks of this.

Why are mimics their own thing? They are random gimmicks that drop like 1 fuel. It shouldnt be that way.

3 days respawn cycle already feels a little bit tedious since unlike brightshade you need to visit nightmare fissures which are usually located far from cave entrance, and now this.. Is even harder to understand.

That is the worts part. They take turns to spawn when they dont even ambush us (maybe the snake one when is finished) so i dont see the reasoning behind making optional encounters in a, supposedly, hard stage of the game taking turns to appear. Less sense when the mimic is something niche, little that is more focused on 'survival' so it would only make sense to affect players while other stuff is going on
