Beta update appreciation post

I really want to appreciate how lovely this update is and give a small shout-out to the gloomerang

First of all it works well with Wortox and enriches his late game by allowing him to casually soul-hop through map or simply enjoy souls without taking refills on killer bee hives

and second of all it's actually a really cool weapon with few nuances:
1. It's damage depends on distance (Max 57 and min 11 for melee) and it's damage is only calculated from position you have casted it
2. You can have max 3 of them mid-air and they don't even hurt you like the normal thing
3. I think it has approximately 150 uses
4. It works with void cowl

I really appreciate how Klei adds awesome stuff that rewards you for making it till the late game
that also synergizes with characters or is just handy QoL item

Also love the new mobs that add more life to the game
Though this post ain't much and things could change, I still think the devs deserve some vocal appreciation :D

I absolutely loved when they showed another ranged weapon. The new items are awesome and I can't wait to use them after the Beta. The only thing I am worried about is that we've been receiving a lot of powerful weapons when there is no need for them (no more powerful enemies after we activate the rifts and get the gears). But I am pretty sure they will bring more fearsome enemies that we will need to use these gears to have a proper fight.

Very excited for whatever comes next!

Thank you Klei!

Personally I love everything about this beta but especially the Greater Worm and the mimic.

That being said with the addition of the gloomerang as well I'm very curious on how klei is gonna end up handling Walter's slingshot.

Probably don't need to be very curious

Based off the direction of the game and recent patches id say there's something close to a 99.9% chance that pure brilliance and pure horror will be used to deal either shadow or lunar damage.

At this point the only question will be by what mechanism (ie if its a tentacle wisp direct etc)

I'd think of all the remaining characters Walter's probably got the most predictable skill tree  following a very very similar style to Winona in most ways. With some skills for his pet beefalo taking a page from Willows Bernie skills

I kind of disagree while I don't doubt he'll get new ammo types his slingshot is probably gonna go through a whole overhaul as it's extremely outdated in how it works in combat compared to ranged alternatives and with how strongly Woby has been powercrept by beefalo quality of life updates it's almost certain she'll get a whole reworking too.

What you're suggesting sound like reworking base character mechanics.

Which is totally fair and appropriate for an extremely subpar character. But there won't be a skill that fundamentally changes the way Woby or the slingshot work  As far as remaining characters he's gotta be the most predictable

Subpar is pushing it he's just been powercrept more or less like pre skill tree Willow.

That being said skills can fundamentally change how characters work with Willow and Wormwood as similar examples honestly they could go multiple routes with how they handle this so it's about as open ended as any of the remaining characters.
