It’s about time…

Finally, Klei has patched the void walking exploit in the beta. Honestly I was kinda getting annoyed seeing people think they are shadow Jesus or something.

Today is a great day, they finally decided to control their game with an iron fist by making people play the game the intended way and I’m all for it.

I don't mind voidwalking getting patched since it really was the kind of bug that shouldn't be kept in, but dude, you have the absolute worst possible outlook on sandbox games and gaming in general. Forcing players to play the game one specific way is lame (and isn't even what Klei's doing here), especially for something like DST that is supposed to have lots of player choice and variety. Nobody who voidwalked had an ego about it, either - it was just a way to escape the tedium of trial-and-error that is finding which tentapillar connects to the Atrium (and apparently they're going to try making that less tedious as part of this fix/QoL update).

Look my G, it’s an exploit meaning people abuse it all the time to gain an advantage in an unintended way, it was never supposed to be an option/method of playing the game like you’d think. I like this update because it fixes “features” and generally makes the game more grounded. You and others may dislike it because they would rather the game be broken in a way that they can take an advantage of bugs but like all bugs in video games they deserve to be patched.

I'm not disagreeing that it needs to be patched, I'm disagreeing with the sentiment expressed in your original post.

got to love that DST community wants people that they don't know to suffer for no reason and become happy after devs ruin some people's fun

we all know that playing a game through an unintended way kills 10 random children per second, increases global warming, thins ozone layer and spreads homelessness, worst of all, it disappoints random people that don't like other people getting fun from playing a game the way they like, even though that practically doesn't affect them and almost nothing'd've changed if they'dn't've been doing that except people not complaining about a part of the game that'sn't fun as much because of it being possible to skip and people skipping a part of the game that they don't consider as fun

People said Klei would never fix the games long standing exploits and bugs… and now they surprised when Klei actually considers that as “Challenge Accepted.”

I personally think there’s a fine line between not wanting your base to get destroyed by funny rift shenanigans, and using something that is clearly a bug to gain an unintended advantage.

remember that void walking was removed so winona could use her vine bridges in caves

Its gonna make finding the atrium entirely rng, which is kinda annoying.

I think if you hold the shadow atrium, the ancient key and a thulecite medallion, all in your inventory, the correct tentapillar should be visible in your map.
Or it could be just by holding the medallion and the ancient key, tbh.

Im indifferent on the whole void walking, but im very shocked on the bridges.

For the longest time the "void" was assumed to be cave walls due to the early caves beta walls and all the Cinematics always showing the caves being an enclosed space, but i guess now its cannonicly an actual void.

Kinda sad they didnt go down the walls path. The dwarf in me wanted to mine thru

Looking the good side of this they can finally put a flying mount to Void wal... I mean void flying around.

And yeah same as Moon Quay the devs needs to give us a clue to know where's the Atrium is.

Batalisks and also the flying InkBlight should be able to fly over these, and if the player brings bees or mosquitos?? Yeah, those too…

Boomerangs and Gloomerangs** should also probably be able to be thrown across cave gaps if a valid target is on the other side and in range.

Wormwoods Lightbulb summons should too. Im all for this void cannonization if it brings these tweaks

Yeah that too..

But also dead player ghosts, Goose Woodie, Wortox Soul Hops, Wigfrid Spear Dashing, Clockwork Bishops Projectiles etc…

Klei really needs to actually do a CAVES update, and stop with this “Bite-Sized Updates” crap they’re doing..

Take 3 months, take 6.. hell take an entire freaking year if you must..!

But WHEN the update finally comes out, make it consistent, make it all go together perfectly.. and make it look like work went into it to perfect it instead of feeling rushed and sloppy and not fully thought out.

you can’t just go “cave walls don’t exist, bridges can be made now” and call it a day… this needs to have Mob Ai and EVERYTHING changed to match with it.

Id even like to see that animation of characters dangling off ledges put in the game, and to have enemies that can knock you down (like charging rooks) be able to smack you right off the ledges etc…

I know of someone who's retrofit wormhole to the lunar grotto crashes the game, so they were required to void walk to reach the archives. This update will lock them out of that area permanently.

Void walking should have never been patched, it's hard to do it unintentionally, all Klei is doing is removing options from people in a sandbox game. Why is it so hard to just let people play the game how they want to?

In this case, void walking would have been made much easier to accidentally happen with Winona's vine bridge.
