They confirmed there is no skilltrees this update.

Where did they confirm that? I’m pretty sure each of the 4 roadmap updates this year was meant to have a skill tree. Unless they specifically mentioned otherwise somewhere.

What!? Are you serious?

That sucks. I was convince Wendy's skill tree will show up.

Pretty sure Scrappy Scavengers didn't include new skill trees.

Yeah I guess Willow & Wigfrids skill trees were pretty forgettable since they didn’t ever get an accompanying short or new belonging skins. :p

They were also released last year. Scrappy Scavengers was just skill tree QoL

Technically they said the updates would have "character updates," which scrappy scavengers did. iirc Wigfrid, Wormwood and Willow got modifications to their skill tree in that update.

weird i can't find anything about that.

I have an hour to watch this so I'll edit with updates of what they cover:

  • No skill trees
  • Mostly rift content, a little bit of QOL/earlygame
  • Winona's vine bridge works in caves
  • Void walking is dead in caves
  • Added a cave bridge, max 3 tiles, relativley cheap
  • Giant Depthworm boss, similar to one in hamlet but "a different creature"
  • Eats things (including player), but stops while doing so, giving opportunities to attack.
  • Cave equivilant to Hound Waves -> Varg Waves
  • Drops bone shards Monster meat, stone, thulecite and I think glowberries?
  • Shadow boomerang - doesn't have the recoil of normal boomerang
  • Further  from target -> more damage, 22-55 damage or so
  • Shadow Maul - needs to be upgraded by killing bosses with it, can also chop trees (?)
  • Upgrades increase damage & grant lifesteal
  • Shadow Beefalo Items !!! Nightmare saddle & Gloom Bell
  • Saddle Gives beefalo planar defense & damage
  • Gloom Bell - Revives beefalo at large sanity & max HP hit. (consumable)
  • More shadow creatures (currently not ready to be shown)
  • Mimic - shadow creatures, duplicates tools on ground and attacks when picking up fake tool, killed by stepping on them
  • 4th member of the inkblights, a separate fight somewhere else
  • has stealth mechanics
  • Interesting Winona cannot "align" apparently.
  • New shadow creature at max rift size - Icker
  • Slows you down in the immediate area
  • Eats you if you get too close
  • More interaction to come
  • Benevolant Rabbit King - feeding rabbit hole a lot of carrots
  • Few other ways to interact with him
  • One man band for bunnyman - coat of carrots
  • Maxwell's tophat like item in the form of a rabbit burrow - 12 slots
  • Item that removes the Rabbits fear of you & can pick them up by hand
  • You can attack it but it drop kicks you
  • Drops rabbit king sabre (does something with beardlings/bunnymen)
  • New nightmare that's rifts level - appears in ruins during nightmare cycle when rifts are active
  • Concept art

Overall seems a pretty solid update in terms of content, but I really hope they start building TO something in from beyond now that both rifts have a solid base of threats & rewards.

Like the new ruins nightmare looks really cool - but it just means you shouldn't go in ruins while shadow rifts are active right? I feel like there needs to be an extended challenge area that needs rifts to be action to function.

Very weak update. Practically nothing interesting here; strange mish-mash of things.

The only wort things here are cave bridges and buffalo resurrection. The Depth Worm "mini" boss is ok.

Weak isn't the word I'd use but it's light on content. 

The previous 3 patches blew this one out of the water with what they add to the game. 

Bridges and some new weapons fantastic 

But I feel like it doesn't particularly evolve the caves being a barren wasteland. 

I think some biome or life was really needed for the caves. And this did almost nothing to address that. 

(most of) the caves have always felt like one of those unfinished areas in a game that you have to glitch into and you can see all these unused assets. But since it's a glitches unfinished area it's just devoid of life. 

The giant worm is super cool, but if it doesn't have any unique loot then its just a massive missed opportunity. Comit to the cause, add a whole new cave region that's basically a boss arena for the worm, and have it drop anything that gives you a sense of being rewarded
