PLS Bring Coffee to DST

Recommended Posts

Maybe a drinking system in general that can include some coffee (maybe with different values)?

(so far one can only "eat" holiday drink stuff, it would be better to actually have something like the thirst-for-tea mod....that I can't use because it isn't compatible with one of my other favourite mods, boo. I want Maxwell to have a chilling drink when it's too hot! [He even asks for one in the gameplay notes during the loading screen. Give this man his drink!] )

It will be cool to have "only adults" dishes. Like having coffee, but Wendy, Walter, Wurt and Webber don't want to eat it or dislike it.

Yes!!! I want them to refuse the heavenly eggnog too, then. :wilson_ecstatic:

alcohol update when?

We already have the eggnog! :D I am sure that thing is not made alcohol free.

EDIT: I just saw that Webber says this tastes GOOD. Poor kid nobody protects him from early alcohol consume D:

EDIT: And then there's the "glorified apple juice" (apple cider) which at least in my region of the world is an alcoholic beaverage too.

In the DST, coffee is called Beefalo. All you need to do is domesticate it to "Rider" and create the "Glossamer Saddle".

I heard that there was already this debate about bringing coffee to the DST between Klei and the ambassadors and the dominant position was not to bring this item.

Hi it’s me again the guy with crazy out of this world suggestions.

Coffee in DST? Okay sure but… let’s consider what real world coffee is actually used for.

And I’m not sure what part of the worlds YOU guys live in but over here in America Coffee and Apple Cider both contain zero alcohol in them lol.. yall must be in the UK or somethin, I got a Buddy over there who STAYS drunk

Anyway, I think in real life I was drinking coffee at like the age of 5 or 6? It’s mostly caffeine and sugar.

What is coffee used for? It’s used to boost peoples energy/awareness so that they’re able to stay awake.

I was chugging down coffee cups just to make it through not falling asleep in school classes.

In DS it never made any sense to me why this item was strictly associated to weeeeeeeee gotta go fast.

It should have other coffee related benefits, such as reducing drowsiness.’

Now there’s an idea! Let’s make characters get tired and groggy without proper sleep but the “Coffee” can push them to keep going just a little longer.

isn’t that already in State of Decay? Ahem anyway.. as strictly a Speed only item, it’s too busted to add to DST…

Especially when Klei’s biggest features are skill tree speed boosts and teleportation networks.

But then again.. the forget me lots tea is already in the game too so Meh.

Speed is a very powerful thing in the game, considering you can outkite anything. Thus you can tame a rider beefalo and that gives you speed anytime anywhere which is good enough as coffee for travel purpose. Or play WX, they get speed anytime you want them to.

Please don't bring coffee to DST.

Coffee is the only reason I dislike Shipwrecked. Having the option to be that quick in the game causes an actual in-game addiction to always drink coffee, because when the effect wears off it all feels unbearably sluggish.

Not to mention that even a small speed boost in DST is sort of a rare thing unless you pick the right character, and even with them it's something you have to maintain. Having coffee just makes things way too easy, especially speedrunning attempts.

Having it as a late game resource does not make it any better either, since you can reach the late game as soon as the first Winter if you're efficient enough.

Just don't.

Germany over here and I am a longterm anti-alcoholic and former caffeine addicted who has been without both for years now because I can't stand the effects of both on the body, x)

But yes apple cider in my place sounded like a particular beaverage with a similar french name that is usually produced in Baden Württemberg or imported from france and it is basically something like an apple wine. Sorry I didn't know it wasn't the same in the US.

But I agree with you on the coffee part. If coffee (or a drinking system to go with it) was added I would want it to have rather complex status effects (and sometimes punishments) to be in line with the real life use / effects of the beaverage so coffee should be like you explained it.

Make it like real life where constant usage lowers its benifit :devilish::devilish::devilish:

Actually I want this to be a real thing with special food items

Sure lets add coffee but how about we also add a tiredness meter just to compensate the boost.

Tiredness will affect how much damage you do as well as slowing you down and the only way to restore it is with sleep or coffee.

Seriously YES! It would be a great motivation to add some realism and give people a /reason/ to sleep (rip Wickerbottom though)
