Doesn’t it have 100% fireproofness?

I know that right now that seems completely useless and entirely situational but I beg you to go play a game called “The Survivalists” It is similar to DST and even have boat rafts that like DST, except in that game their area island biomes with its own temperature.

So something like Scalemail with 100% fireproof protection, would probably be a required item to explore a Volcano Island.

This is just a buff to its “fireproof” useage, but honestly if there were enough cases to use it.. (same as Wigfrids fireproof scroll) then it would fit a niche role within the game.

Bro, do you hate this guy for recommending this? :wilson_laugh:

If we need to base feedback and suggestions on imaginary scenarios...

Would be cool to have areas with set temperature like sharkboi biome being cold or a hot biome but that doesnt make the item good.

Would you farm scales to explore that island knowing the armor breaks fast and the cheapest way to obtain a new one is through green staff?

Did survivalist became good? I tried it when was released but needed a lot of improvements but was a nice idea for a game

Scalemail has the highest durability of any body armor (except thulecite) and its lower damage protection (70%) means it will absorb less damage than your football helmet (80%) if you are wearing both. I don't think I would use a green staff on this armor when I could let followers/teammates beat the scales out of DF's pre-Larvae phase and let it reset for more.

The two biggest flaws to the scalemail is that it sets enemies on fire and it feels like you trade protection for a useless fire immunity. I think adding fire hazards/enemies would save the armor from these flaws.

I mean if something is meant to grant fire immunity, common sense logic says there need to be more cases where fire is important.

Megabasers hate the idea of fire based content and mobs, because well it would be massively destructive to their bases.. obviously, and if it were only used in a boss fight or two that heavily used fire in the fight,  it would be very pointless.

But if there were these huge content filled islands out at sea that required the player to wear the armor to explore it would give the armor significant usage.

Keep in mind that it’s durability only matters when your being hit by non-fire based attacks….

So, you’d have an advantage on an island like the imaginary magma/volcano biome as the fire based weather effects, and the mobs with fire based attacks, can’t hurt you..

Now then using an already existing mob as an example- Scalemail Armor should be completely 100% Immune to Undead Possessed Vargs Flamethrower breath (as in it doesn’t lose durability) but if this same hound was to “bite” you with a non-fire based attack, you would lose armor durability.

And to answer your question about the Survivalists, it’s pretty fun (on Xbox) and atleast it feels like I’m playing a game designed to feel good to play on an Xbox, it doesn’t make me as frustrated as DST does when content and character abilities are designed entirely around KB+Mouse controls and then ported poorly to Console- Or Worse… not even an option on Console at All! (still can’t drag anything and drop it into the ocean/tame Gnarwail/distract cookie cutters by dropping logs in water)

There are gameplay elements in that game that I wish Klei would’ve adapted to DST?? Such as being able to dead lift heavy items like base structures or chests full of loot (should’ve been a mighty Wolfgang perk) more frequent and hostile mob encounters throughout general exploration.. and temperature based islands.

People on these forums act like it’s a Sin to discuss other games and compare them to DST, But from my point of view, if that other game can do something like help Klei nail better controller adaptation, or cool concept ideas like temperature biomes with appropriate mobs, or cool character ability ideas- Then I say that game needs to be brought up and discussed.

Klei does not optimize dst in the slightest bit for console players and all it takes is playing as Winona in a Lights Out world to notice this painfully obvious flaw, to “Dismantle” her Catapults and Spotlights Requires pressing the very same button that should you happen to be holding a Torch in Your Hand (and you obviously will be in lights out mode until you can get lanterns or miner hats) Will choose to hilariously burn your structure with the torch instead of disassemble it.

Burning things with torches is prioritized on PC as well. Most “interact” options are bounded to the right click, same with dismantling and burning structures. It isn’t really a flaw with console over PC, more just how the actions of burning are prioritized over anything else in general.

I agree that it shouldn’t set enemies on fire and instead should have some other ability

I think it’d be cool if it gave you insulation in winter (it radiates heat) AND heat resistance in summer (it makes you immune to fire) would be cool. Sometimes managing your temperature while fighting enemies and trying not to die can be difficult. The scalemail would help alleviate that. You could also wear it for general use in winter/summer since it’d technically have unlimited durability outside of combat (you’re sacrificing your backpack though so I think it’d still be balanced).

I stopped reading here. Again you are making statements of stuff you dont understand to atack a portion of the player base, that most of them enjoy more portions of content you do btw

Im a megabaser and i wont hate at all more fire mobs and biomes. Is as simple as "i dont build there" like i dont build in the meteor field or in the middle of the rook spawners in the ruins

One day you will be good at the game and understand how dumb and easy and uninteresting is to defend a survival-based base from hazzards...one day

You understand that MegaBaser Unfriendly = Summer Season Rework where Fire based mobs replace the current Mobs (Such as spiders becoming magma spiders)

Where as the only way Klei can actually implement this is to have them identical to Lunar Island- Secluded to their own little island so you CAN

”Don’t Build There”

When I discuss Megabasing, I don’t fully hate on it, I TRY to bring about a concept or idea that lets you keep your Megabase, while also adding new Megabase unfriendly content…

(See Above “Don’t Build Here” Biome)

Infinite use thermal stone chest piece.

Make it turn green when its in the colder range just like how Dragonfly does when he cools down

Honestly if this was a thing, I would stop using the "infinite durability thermal stone" mod I have. I like this idea quite a bit. Granted, it would make all body armor insulation kind of useless? potentially unless it is just a thermal stone but in the body slot.

Idk why klei gated behind a willow skill point enemy's loot dropping smouldering when set in fire. Is like they dont want us niche items that wont break the game or create any unbalance but proceed to give AoE fire without needing to aim to her
