Suggestion: Advanced Atmosuits for High Heat and Lava

Recommended Posts

Would like to see an Advanced Version of the Atmosuit for really High Heat Sectors.

Since the normal Atmosuit has now a bigger purpose with the cold scalding (normal Suit is enough there) and since toasty surroundings and chilly sourroundings are fixed now.
I would suggest an Atmosuit Station maybe with an coolant and oxygen system inbuilt for working in melting hot areas to keep the dupes chilled about magma. Out of higher grade materials.

Might be balanced with the cost to build and cost of running them this way.

It gives the same as the Atmo Suit: +726.9°C the Temperatures Lava has is around +1400°C

So no it is not enough for temperatures above.

Is this interaction changed with a mod, only one I think that could impact it is rocketry expanded, but I'm not sure why that one would change it?

Not sure i first thought it was about Farenheit and Celsius diffrence but thats not the case since in °F it would be 1483.6°F

I started the game unmodded.

All the suits give +1000C scalding temperature, so a dupe can survive up to 1071.9C

Jean takes scalding damage in 1073C molten lead. Frankie does not take scalding damage in 1071C molten lead.

Might be true.
But there might be some more physics to it (Insulation / Time when the Dupe experiences the issue). The Scalding Threshold is listed as +716.9°C in the Description and thats what i go by. The Base Dupe Threshold is not listed in the game but is placed at 72.85°C
What you experience might be a bug or special behaviour that the game has for everyone.

Besides that that still aint 1400°C :D

@Primalflower Yep thats right they melt to sand (funny) wonder if that happens when they wear them.

Wait until I shatter your world view on what the dupe threshold actually is :P. Anyhow, the only temperature that matters is the one that's used in gameplay. Being too trusting of Klei's tooltips can lead one astray at times.

Interesting. I just ran the same experiment and can confirm that 1071C does not lead to scalding in the current beta and current Spaced Out. It seems to take a bit longer for the scalding to start in current stable Spaced Out than in beta, but I did not measure how long. Also noted that in stable Spaced Out they both get heatstroke, while in beta they do not due to the changes made, I guess.
