Frosty_Mentos
They did make a whole new game like Rotwood as, well, it's blatantly obvious it was inspired by Forge. And it's a pretty decent game too! But, overall it didn't really use DST assets and it is it's own thing which is nice, but I wouldn't mind having new mechanics and a whole new game just by using the resources they already got while supplying extra new assets for better animations and all. A sort of a canon game for DST instead of needing to host servers on their side and players could make their own, making a game just about cooking and maybe competitions of sorts if hosting own servers I think it could be a pretty cool side activity if devs were to consider that sometime. But I kinda wonder what do ya'll think about Rotwood being Forge's successor game and if Klei should be trying to use assets to dish out a better Gorge game but keeping most what DST has and being able to use own skins between two games? I think there's potential untapped for just that. Other games do reuse assets just different coding likely made to update old features and make something new. I also terribly miss Gorge Forge is too linear and too try hardy for me. There arent similarities in how you progress, how you upgrade, the wepons or any spell (there arent even spells in rotwood...) cadilacs and dinosaurs or any other arcade game from that years is the blatantly obvious inspiration. Even castle chrasers They can make a cooking game like plate up or overcooked with a touch of stardew valley, Dst farming system is the best i ever experience so they can go that route tho, but i prefer if they use their resources on making other kind of games than something i would play with my friends once every blood moon. Klei has potential to make cool looking open worlds, rpgs or survivals. Even castle chrasers we don't have to track back to times when tetris was invented to tell that yes it is highly forge inspired specifically I just want my DST cooking game where I yell-cry to my teammates about not finding flour. BezKa
The demo was literally forge.exe. And it's on (expanded, modified?) DST engine. It is very directly Klei devs liking the Forge event for DST and wanting to make a whole game off it. Sure, there's not that many similarities (parry skill... Come home...) but you can't deny the origin of the game. I love Rotwood by the way. It's so fun. If you haven't tried it yet and you liked Forge, I'm. Begging you. Anyway, I don't think reusing assets from DST to make a different game is a good idea. However the art of the Gorge could easily be adapted into a different style while preserving that beautiful atmosphere and I can see Klei remaking it very nicely. There's no reason to think they will though, since we have no clue what they're up to besides what has been shared with us. In the meantime, I recommend Overcooked 2. A lot of screaming at your friends there, 10/10. Szczuku
With a differently stylized artstyle, expanded gameplay and lore I could definitelly see a spin-off game based on Gorge. Maybe you'd play as a random goat we haven't met yet that left the victorian town, sailed a bit of the sea and is out in the wilderness but not out of the range of Gnaw's power. A story-driven game about travelling the world, exploring other ruined goat/pig towns, looking for a way out while having to collect ingredients and making meals on the way Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/156492-should-klei-make-a-gorge-game-out-of-dst-assets/#findComment-1719245 Share on other sites
Zeklo
I would love a sci-fi themed game with Gorge-like mechanics. Essentially feeding a terrifying space anomaly death hole instead of angry sky mouth. I feel like you could do a lot with a cooking game with a futuristic vibe.
