My previous post about lunacy with mutated bosses, made me think this : Enlightenment kinda sucks tbh.

I like the fact that it's just some specific Enlightened zones and it's Whitish-creatures, the rivals of shadows finally :3.

They just make you asleep, and when you go fully asleep, you're sitting on the ground until you wake up, also you can get slapped on the way. Shadows involve actions, and some creatures and items are being revealed with a sanity this low.

What could they do instead ? Well, they are dreams, right ? We could get hallucinations that are traps, Gestalts meteorites like, Gestalts able to corrupt a tree for a few seconds just to stab you. I don't see Them going on you and attacking like a terror beak, I see more you should avoid their presence and not fall in their Gestaltish traps. Nightmares are hunting for you in an offensive way.

Also people with eyes are being flashbanged by all this blue, but that can just be an option or a mod. There's just not many reasons for you to avoid them unlike shadow creatures. Unless you're fighting a creature but most of the time, it's fine.

I have to say I don't know, Enlightenment is so fiction in theme and banal in gameplay that I don't know what it can become.

But one thing's for sure, it should shaping a different kind of madness from the shadow creatures, with transcendent, zen, relaxed stuff. If it's turned into just a white colour version of shadow creature, just spawn near you and fight you, I won't be happy.

Enlightenment sucks. Oooh, you're slow and annoyed now, but not in any danger unless you're fighting something!

Insanity is way better, even if the shadows aren't usually very dangerous on their own for experiences players they still can be, and fighting them is both interactive and gives rewards (nmf + sanity). You can't get rewards from enlightenment, you can't engage with the mechanic, you can't do anything except either already have things to make your sanity go lower or go beddy-by honk-shoo over and over. 

Gestalts are not trying to kill you they are trying to teach you their ways, so it wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to go after you. I think it is probably mostly fine to be honest, it doesn't really need to be dangerous, it's mostly a thematic idea.

enlightenment is really underdeveloped.

When tge insanity update came to DS back in the day added shadow creatures, hands that stole fires, hallucinations in the dark, sounds and whispers (most of them were remove recently in dst for some reason), rabbits and bunnymen changing shape and loot, etc

years after return of them added the lunacy bar we not only didnt get anything but the only effect of enlightenment, gestals that make you groggy, is completely negate by 2 items without drawback

Plant based lunar mobs have a common theme where they’re generally minding their own business and have adaptions to increase their chance of survival, unlike animals and fungi (spores) that are hostile.
