We should get the option for seeded worlds. But what should be the condition for generating seeded worlds?

I spend a good amount of my time looking for good world seeds to base long term in. My current 11000 day is something that was generated due to absolute freak chance and has very passable wormholes, a basalt jail, guardian pigs, dev graveyard, triple mac, with generally non offensive world gen in general. All super neat and if you count it as a pro, which many people do, has 1 single deciduous biome.

It's ruined me for every other world gen I've come across to date. I think world seed input in vanilla is something nice to have when playing long term. Such an option would be great if it were available to us.

The thing is, world seeds are extremely powerful and can eliminate a lot of challenge in the game. Considering a default seeded world setting, what could fairly offset the leg up one would get from having a seeded world?

Perhaps a health penalty? Maybe an extended lock on celestial portal with initial build cooldown? reduced drops from mobs? Severe weather early game I think could be a fair trade off. Maybe let it hail in the first year but without rifts and let acid rain as well.

just add the option because it makes zero sense for the game not to have it and console can't use seeds, both minecraft and terraria have had this for eons

there are a handful of world settings that trivialize the game FAR more that world seeds would, like the one that lets you revive at the portal an infinite amount of times for free. Putting a downside on what is essentially a qol feature seems very silly.

A seeded world is absolutely nothing compared to setting all hazards to off/minimum and rolling back any time something goes wrong. I don't know why you're proposing a counterbalance.

I don't think something as basic as choosing a seed should have penalties, I do not understand why it should have one.

If people want to play with an advantage why should anyone stop them? You can already disable death from pretty much everything except for creatures attacking you and you can make reviving completely free, if someone wants to play in a world with a cane right next to spawn, I say let em.
