Jakepeng99
The un-anticipated and random prequal of Cave mob ideas by another random person What Ocean mob ideas do you have for the ocean? (Mobs that live on islands in the ocean like powder monkeys count) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152214-ocean-mob-ideas/ Share on other sites
WenericMember
I think some sort of Enemy/boss who's back you'd have to ride on to kill it would be neat, just to break up the monotony of the circular boats. Maybe a turtle of some description? It could also work as a neutral mob, or a reworked crab king fight. You could do a bunch of things with it, rising and falling to change the area of the battlefield. Maybe as a loot drop it could drop its shell, which turns into an exceptionally durable boat. Horsheen
I'd like to see a creature that could give you a boat patch-esque item, like some sealing slime or something it sucks that you can't get the ingredients for boat patches while at sea, so it'd be nice to have an alternative Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152214-ocean-mob-ideas/#findComment-1677532 Share on other sites
Dextops
Not really a new mob, but make rockjaw drop a fin which can be made to make something akin to the sleek hat in shipwrecked Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/152214-ocean-mob-ideas/#findComment-1677534 Share on other sites

Wood could be from driftwood or something. I think it would be cool to find some ship wreckages that you could plunder. In another thread I said I wanted a kraken-like monster with sea tentacles that can grab you or your boat. Jellyfish would be neat, maybe they'd poison you, sea snakes too. Electric eels that electrocute you. Puffer fish that hurt you when you attack them. Whales that you could ride on or even go inside lol. Some underwater exploration would be awesome too. I don't know why they just don't take from Shipwrecked. It would make the oceans more interesting and fun to explore. I think it's best to start with what loot they'd drop, then how it would affect the balance of the game. Then come up with a mob idea. I imagine this is how Klei approaches it. Nobody wants an annoying creature that drops useless loot, the more applications it has the better. Starting with things like boat patches is a good idea. One really awesome mechanic i'd love to see it the ability to swim for a short time. They could make it like how darkness hurts you. Once you start swimming things will start attacking you from below, until you get to shore or on a boat, and if you don't they ultimately bring you down. If you're wearing metal/marble armor or carrying more than so many items then you'd start sinking. Jakepeng99
Small thing, but add those broken down ships in the sea from shipwrecked. They are really armospheric and i am shocked they have not been added. Why add them? Sword fish could have set pieces around these in hazourdous oceans.
