What could be the shadow equivalent to Host of horrors?

I'm surprised to see so little mentions of Acid rain so far.

I'm expecting either 'corrupted' or acid-ified enemies next, since they currently buff Batilisk.

Slurtles drink the acid rain to become super slugs!

Rather than corrupted creatures, I'd like to see more shadow creatures like Ink Blight or Shadow Leeches in the cave and do some... more "living" things like living in groups, growing, reproducing, and hunting.

shadows are the opposite of the moon, but they're supposed to offer something different. I was under the impression that the shadow creatures were more alive than the Gestalts, which is exactly what the cave was missing.

Well since gestalts are "the projections of something stronger" A.K.A the moon. They are probably just alter using it's power to project henchmen onto constant. So they are alive but they're a single entity. And as the update i'd rather have more wildife instead of shadows but it wouldn't fit the theme probably.

My suggestion is to add "genuine Pieces" as shadow rift bosses. since the shadows on the surface are weaker, they show true strength in the Underground with an open fault.(This is also equivalent to how moon strengthened the old bosses)

They have 1 form but which surpasses all their previous ones. Spawn in ruins (or in a more open place) when the rift is open and if the player brings Shadow Atrium to the ruins (the appearance condition can be changed).

Items, found in the @-Variant code may fall out of them:

The Knight would've dropped the Shadow Crest.

The Rock, the Shadow Lance.

And the Bishop, the Shadow Mitre and Sceptre.

I really like the idea and the designs are absolute fire. Also the items would finally give a reason to fight the knight.

Also the ink blights can maybe haunt the suspicious statues like this:

Jitters: Smashes into the knight statue going full speed.

Rasp: stretches its giant mouth and swallows the rook statue.

Shriek: does the the same animation as a brightshade gestalt haunting corpses but into the bishop statue.

As much as I loved Herald's design...we did get the Trio, and the funny pig man that's interestingly aware of its circumstances.
Other than like, maybe the werepig breaking free and becoming a wandering threat when rifts are active...
I'd prefer some more non-boss content.

I like the idea of a more powerful Nightmare Werepig wandering/hunting the caves after you defeat him the first time when rifts are active. Basically he'd be in his tired state after beating him and then when you leave the caves and comeback you'll find that he's gone but later he'll announce his arrival while you explore with growls/scary sounds (like Deerclops) and then attack you in a more powerful state, perhaps with new dreadstone drops/blueprints.

I always thought it would be cool to have a wandering giant that hunts you in the caves, like Beargar and Deerclops are, up above.

Imagine him lunging at you from the darkness as a surprise attack

We've already seen what the shadows did to a pig in form of the Nightmare Werepig, it made it bigger, stronger, and triggered it's curse that usually required the moon's power to activate, wouldn't be surprised if we get souped up versions of some cave mobs as bosses and encounters.
