Charlie isn't trapped by the nightmare throne at all.

When the survivors sit on the throne, they aren't allowed to leave it.

Charlie doesn't have that restriction and you've even seen her free Wilson from the throne.

I mean that really means NOTHING! Maxwell was stuck on the throne… but yet he pops in to tease and mock Wilson each Adventures Mode Chapter he makes it through.

My personal theory here is that while occupying the throne the captive can project themselves around the constant, or.. the more likely scenario, something inside the throne possesses them & steals/Mimics their identity.

I personally see it as not saving from the throne per se, but from Them / Shadows / corrupted Metheus. And when she was freeing Wilson she wasn't on the throne? Maybe i'm getting something wrong. And yes, as mentioned by Mike23Ua, there are some apparitions. Maybe Charlie's are more exceptionally powerful and convincing because of the shadow corruption.

She sits on the throne though in the dst trailor, in full control with no issues.

Well that happening would be in one of these three ways:
1- same as single player dst where we released maxwell only to become his replacement
2-same as DST where a third party comes in and takes the throne (for example wagstaff)
3-we destroy the throne and end its influence

the problem with 1 is that then we should remove one of the playable characters since they are occupying the throne
the problem with 2 is that it would only create the same question about the next character that inherits the throne
the problem with 3 is that there would no longer be any threat from the night and most of the ingame mechanics would become broken

How do we know maxwell didn’t do the same? He basically created a large part of the constant so he definitely had control and he was also able to be seen away from the throne as if he was detached from it as we’re seeing Charlie now.

I believe it's called the Nightmare throne because whoever sits on it will forcibly have their nightmares manifested in the reality of the constant. Everything that exists in the constant so far is the nightmares of both Maxwell and Charlie except for what little was there when they first arrived.

I don't think so, seeing Maxwell isn't that scared of most mobs, even specifying that deercops scares him (Even I'm scared of that guy) Maxwell was likely just creating things for the fun of it and Charlie for the fun of it in A new Reign and recently doing things for her shadow side's intrest rescently (RoT and FB)

The stageplay was written by "C.W" meaning second her name does start with a W

So what I'm getting is that Charlie's full name is Charlie Wharlie.

Likely becouse her "monster" side is Cyclum who knows a thing or two about lunar magic and likely shadow too

She wasn't on the throne then proceeds to sit on it after her two sides fuse together:

I think we should be able to free Charlie from the throne and whatever is controlling her, and it should end the game. Give an ending cutscene, roll credits. Just as an option for an ending and closure to the story. You can still play forever if you want, just leave Charlie where she is.

Do I think that will happen? No. Don't Starve isn't that kind of game, I doubt Klei would ever add that. But I'd just personally like that, just narratively speaking. For there to be resolution and an ending. Maybe a custom ending for whatever character you're playing as, too, to show what they do after getting back to their own world. Unless the ending is something more akin to the cessation of existence or something, which would feel fitting for the DST universe, actually.

It is a projection. Maxwell hinself said he has been stuck on the throne for thousands of years. He would have turned the gramophone off.

That was my point, how do we know Charlie isn’t just doing the same? Did I miss something important?

We see her in the throne room sitting on the throne with no issue. She goes up to Wilson and takes him off the throne and makes the room to her liking. Maxwell sits on the phrone while being trapped on it. We only see the projections outside of the room.

If she became a playable character, I’d want her to be the ultimate character and able to interact and use any of the other characters stuff. Like by that point you’ve been playing for awhile.

Anyway, with no definitive “ending” DSTs updates are released as well Uhm- Named “Seasons”

First was “Return of Them” now we have “From Beyond” these “Seasons” span multiple updates which can go on over several years (as was seen with RoT)

Shouldn't A New  Reign be the "first season"?
