Maxil20
At the moment, acid rain has a mechanic I’ve seen a lot of people overlook. It spoils items in your inventory, and it does so at extreme speeds. Without getting too complicated in details, whenever acid rain’s effects “tick” for perishables, it directly removes 1% from their spoilage (bypassing days to spoil and the like), and under heavy acid rain these ticks can easily rot any perishable in your inventory in ~1.5-2 days. The only way to counter this is if you have 100% protection from wetness. I personally suggest these items should not be impacted in a backpack. It would allow players to have some means of protecting their food as they go out and explore, and using the backpack to protect items has already been utilized quite a few times (ex: items cannot get wet if they are in backpack slots vs inventory slots. Just the mobs associated with it. Meaning that Klei somehow made the feature even crueler than pre-good game design UM development. Which is impressive. MadMatt
I think it'd be cool to give all the irregular backpacks this ability and keep the normal backpack like how it works now.
ADM
I think that's an alright idea but since there is already that prevention attributed with 100% wetness protection which can be easily reached (and even more suggested now), I might altogether prefer a new backpack being added using the new mobs' loot with this being just one of its perks. Or maybe give inventory slots to this new cloth armor who so far seems to lack utility ? (again just one of multiple buffs, this won't be enough). A part of me thinks it's been a very long time we haven't got new nice portable containers getting added, but I'm not against the basic backpack suggestion if getting new ones isn't gonna happen. finn from human
If they add something new for this then I'd love some sort of lunchbox that works like a tackle box but can only hold food >:

A 10 slot backpack that can double as backup armor in a pinch has some neat applications, and the buffs to it in DS make it way more appealing to use. I’m sure it could fit in as an interesting sidegrade to a lot of the backpack options.
