Brightshade armor has worse protection than Dreadstone armor against new creatures

Recommended Posts

After a couple of tests, I came to the conclusion that the new armor protects the character from plants worse than dreadstone armor. (see the spoiler) What makes me question - why is this armor needed at all? I understand the idea of the developers that brightshade armor performs the function of protection from new mobs. The problem is that, as you can see in the test, she loses in where she should be stronger in theory.
So can the new armor see some buff? Maybe increase its protection from lunar creatures? As far as I know, now it is 25% with a full set, why not increase it to 35% at least? Another option is increasing the damage to shadow creatures from 10% to 15% or 20%, or make two changes at once.

Spoiler

Here the player takes damage from the vines wearing only 1 armor piece. As you can see, the numbers are the same.

When wearing two pieces of armour brithshade armor loses by 3 points. You should consider that the vines will provide the most potential damage from the deadly brithshade because taking damage from the plant itself is easily avoidable.

If the player attacks the brightshade in the defensive form, a player in dreadstone armor receives 13 more damage, but you don't want to attack the plant in that form anyway. (46 damage is the damage dealt by the sword to the plant)

So why would you bother with the new armor, if it just worse even protecting against lunar creatures and has no benefits like dreadstone armor has? That's a good question...

based on what I'm seeing, seems like they are going for a theme where lunar items are more offensive and shadow items are more defensive.

The high reduction items seem to be all shadow aligned, while shield of terror can also be considered as a defensive weapon. Then the new lunar gears have lower base defense, though they do protect you more from planar dmg, but also buffs damage and pierces planar defense as well. Not to mention the bonus damages vs shadow enemies, which we are having more and more lately.

If this what they’re going for, I would’ve thought it’d be the other around tbh. Shadows seem more aggressive, and even in their respective ‘final’ battles, CC is DEFENDING Alter, while Fuelweaver is HOLDING the shadows back

if we eventually head into the direction of an all out war between the lunar side and shadow side maybe lunar gear would be more effective against shadow aligned mobs and shadow gear would be more effective against lunar alligned mobs.

maybe that's the case for monsters, then it's the other way around for players? I dunno, just seems that way.
