TheTruth
So, Woodie is a Canadian right? This game takes place in 1921 or 1920s. Canada gain its independence in 1982. Does average Canadian like Woodie considered themselves as "Canadian" under the Dominion of Canada in 1920s ? Or does he see himself as a part of British Royal subject ? I know this is irrelevent for the game's lore, I am just curious. Hornete
Canada became independant from the British Empire in 1867, not 1982. Woodie is Canadian(And so is Walter! Which is a little less known). CameoAppearance
Canada became 99% independent in 1867 and just tied up the last few loose ends in 1982; for the average Canadian in 1982 who didn't regularly deal with federal laws or treaties, the difference was mostly symbolic. Canada did have a different flag in the 1910s/1920s though! The iconic red and white flag with the big maple leaf was adopted in 1965. Before that, Canada had one of those flags with the British flag in the corner, which technically was never formally designated as the Dominion of Canada's flag but everyone used it for that anyhow, and this is the one that would have been current as of when Woodie was taken: They basically just crammed every provincial flag into that coat of arms. Depending on what year it was when Walter was pulled in, he might recognise this one: Which is at least a bit cleaner and has more prominent maple leaves.
