Maxwell's shadow sneak + pigmen = werepig?

Right now, different types of mobs have nightmare forms altered by the nightmare fuel. fe. rabbits, bunnymen. What kind of meat do they drop? Monster Meat.  

What causes pigs to enter the werepig state?  

Either the moon, or the monster meat.  

So the transformation can both be triggered by the lunar powers or nightmare fuel corruption.    So this may be accurate lore-wise, since monster meat drops from nightmare-corrupted mobs and it's possible that it indicates that monster meat in itself is corrupted by the shadows.

The werepigs also cannot be turned against each other, so farming them in pig farms would be extra effort with Maxwell's fragile body, if that's a concern. Or just make it have a chance of turning them into werepigs.

Disagree, it's a stretch to make the connection when the other nightmare forms are caused by insanity/ruins phase. Werepigs also don't drop nightmare fuel, beard hair, or monster meat so it's safe to say they're pretty clearly separate afflictions from Beard Lords and Shadow Splumonkeys. 

EDIT: I would agree with this but ONLY if shadow sneak could transform Woodie for consistency. He also transforms by eating Monster Meat.

Maybe Monster Meat is jus meat that comes from a monster, there's no real proof that it is corrupted by Nightmare Fuel, even Lunar monsters drop Monster Meat.

Yup, there is no connection between monster meat and shadow magic. Even Horror Hounds will still drop monster meat.

This is almost definitely the correct answer. Even Moonrock Pengull's drop monster meat even though their previous form never did and they were transformed using the MOON's power. How would nightmare fuel infest a creature so heavily tainted by the Lunar's magic?

Lunar powers just transform mobs into other forms. If spiders were transformed, their origins are still their origins so they drop monster meat.

Although the first statement is accurate... Still I can't shake off the fact that beardlords and shadow rabbits after their transformation caused by shadow sneak have their normal meat drops altered to monster meat.

 

My logic may be a bit far-fetched though, since there's a lot of mobs that drop monster meat that don't seem connected to nightmare fuel, like hounds and spiders.

plus pigs/Woodie transform not only upon consumption of monster meat, but also under the light of a full moon, so I'd say they have a stronger connection to the moon magic rather than shadow magic(or maybe moon just acts as a catalyst here, idk)

It's probably because they turn into monsters.

Ancient Guardian is literally filled with Nightmare Fuel yet he drops normal Meat.
