i mean, merms also can take care of Shadow pieces, but you only need to kill them once. 

they're also fine for Crab king if you use ice staffs (but trying to sail with a boat full of them is pretty painful).

they can obviously kill Deerclops, Bearger(if you even want to), Goose/Moose, EoT etc.

if you have enough, you could try Twins of Terror too, they'll surely kill most merms first night, cause of their aoe, but merm guards only take half a day to ressurect, so you'll have them for 2nd night as well. 

Merms are strong, it's just that BQ and Dlfy are the only bosses worth mentioning, due to benefits of their drops. (Klaus' drops are also very nice, but you'll either need more merms to outdamage him, or something to distance the deers from him)

you dont need to wait to spring to kill these 2 bosses, you can do it in autumn with the help of swamp merms which will help you to get the 2nd df scale

Yes, but again that doesn't really change that building merms is time consuming

I'm pretty sure they won't help with Toadstool, since they hide in their shells and abandon loyalty to the player due to its "epicscare" component. Tanking doesn't help with AoE.

Actually worse, Toadstool fight takes so much time they simply leave at one moment

pretty sure merm AI changed somewhere down the line, now they have a bit more self preservation, and like to attack the deer if it hits them... and the deer will hit them. since merms specialize in deleting things, and deer only have 1500 HP, it is bad luck when one of them finds themselves being pummeled by multiple merms, doing 50 damage a hit.

Klaus with merms was a glorious fight back around when RWYS was the new hot thing, now it's more of an exercise in futility unless you cheese, because 19 times out of 20, the merms will obliterate the deer.
