Question about disappearing logs.

Recommended Posts

I read a patch note for bugfix. The content was this :Fixed a bug causing stumps that decay to remove all the relevant items, instead of leaving one of each item behind.

But there are still many people who have seen the logs disappear.

I wonder if it automatically clears the log when doing a lot of wood or if the item still disappears when the stump disappears.

or if there are logs or pine cones that have not yet been collected, will they disappear together?

If there is a staff that knows exactly, please let me know.

Do they dissapear? Or did they just burn off screen and you left the area before fire could spread.

I never seen any loose logs in my world dissapear at all. Even logs left over from Rooks trail of destruction are still there hundreds and hundreds days later.

Stumps cause any amount of tree-derived items near it to disappear with it after a certain amount of days (15-30 days I think? has to do with your regrowth world setting as well), I wouldn't guess there's a limit. It's just so the forest looks cleaner and can properly regrowth 'naturally' when something like a boss runs over it and to reduce lag. I'm guessing the bug fix just fixes the mechanic to be as intended. The only way to fix logs not disappearing is to remove any stumps near it, as there is no way for stumps of any tree (except spiky) to remain in a world when there's regrowth (and maybe the ones by glommer because there's no 'decay timer' connected to it?

I planted 1720 trees and tested it. When I put it on one screen and watched it, when the stump disappeared, logs and cones was still there.  Instead, when I went out of the screen and came back, logs had disappeared in a circle.

i think your right. The stump is not related to the disappearance of the log, and to reduce the lag, is it not possible to get rid of the log that has not been picked up for a long time? I’m not sure.

i have seen the "puff" effect from lazy forager while stumps and the logs arround disappear

logs left in the ground dont disappear by their own, need a stump but im not sure if that mechanic still in the game

So it's related to the presence of a stump? Hmmm

stumps despawn after some time and, for some reason, despawn logs arround

or atleast is what they did, again, idk if this was changed

The function is still there according to the Evergreen file, yea.
Sets a timer when the tree is turned into a stump. Looks like it takes between about a season or two to happen.

Stuff it can take with it:

    ["log"] = true,
    ["pinecone"] = true,
    ["twigs"] = true,
    ["twiggy_nut"] = true,
    ["charcoal"] = true,
