Faster way to get around

Recommended Posts

Loaded a new world messing around and after a while you realise that some really important aspects of gameplay can be islands away. finding a good place to set up base is difficult and it gets annoying spending three day trips just to get to the pig king or to the beefalo herd.

From this had some ideas on some ways to get around faster

Mounts- ride the pigmen? or tallbird perhaps even an entirely new mob. or steal the tallbirds egg and hatch it

Equipable- some sort of hat etc that makes you move faster.

Waygates- maybe some ruins or relics that can be activated or paid to use. Late game i would presume with high risk for reward. Maybe not built by the player but naturally generated every 3-4 island circles.

But then again i understand that is a part of the game, it is meant to be gritty and difficult to survive.

Hey, why riding some strange animals? It could also be cool to build some tracks from one of your base to another. And you could ride in a minecart or someting.

Yeeees... i know it sounds like minecraft, but those games go i the same direction: survive in the wilderness, so a minecart is one the best option. Or also a big nutshell to ride on tracks would also okay haha :D

Or a boat on a river... and the cart/boat should have a "upgrade" so you can place a torch and ride trough the dark night from base to base :D

Life is hard... :)

Yup. I mean, not riding pig men, that's just mean, but tall birds. And yes, it was suggested that stealing and raising an egg would be the best way to allow a player to pull this off. Another suggestion was using the beefalo, but as a slower mount that could carry items (i.e. a chest on its back) for you. Still, good ideas are good ideas.

Except the riding pig men idea. :p

Really? You had to open the door for Toaster Fu to post that response? Personally I can't see a speed increase from a hat. Well, not a normal hat at least.

That sounds like I'm playing Diablo... or Torchlight. Minus all the loot I need to constantly sell back at town. I still prefer the mount idea.

But then again i understand that is a part of the game, it is meant to be gritty and difficult to survive.

Yup. That's how I feel too.
