This is one of the things I love Hamlet for. I love extinction as a mechanic, I really do! I think it's alright if some things can go extinct if you aren't careful. Obviously it shouldn't be easy to accidently make something go extinct, not at all, but I do enjoy when carelessness could permanently damage the environment and your world.
