"Lights Out" player can't get Processing Circuit?

Recommended Posts

I was playing "Lights Out" Preset these days, and I noticed that WX-78 can't get Processing Circuit for there's no butterfly, which makes it impossible to build Super-Processing Circuit and Beanbooster Circuit. What if WX can scan moon moth like it scans butterflies? Moon creatures are highly related with sanity so it make sense if you ask me.

(If you don't know what "Lights Out" Preset is, check "Choose World Preset" before generating your world. It is a official preset so I think it should be taken into account.)

Catcoons have the (infinitesimally small) chance to vomit up a live butterfly. Hope for some good RNG.

EDIT: It's going to be a slog for you to get one legit, but do remember they're your only source of birds and (identified) seeds too in that preset, so at least you won't be wasting your time.

It should also be pointed out if you play in the preset that disables giants that some of WX78’s circuits won’t be available there either, I don’t understand why some of these need to be gatekept by bosses when almost no other character has this issue.

Doesn't "no giants" preset disables only seasonal ones? Even if it disables Bee Queen too, it's still only one circuit.

One circuit of highly dubious value, if you ask me.

But yeah, OP's suggestion seems reasonable to me. Lights Out is meant to be a challenging mode so it's reasonable for some things to be less accessible, but probably not "waiting for catcoons to puke up butterflies" levels of less accessible.

Lights out is meant to be a challenging mode yet.. there’s one character who can survive indefinitely with free infinite night vision.

Perhaps these circuits should be disabled from crafting under this mode?

That infinite night vision isn't exactly free, though. Dedicating 4 of 6 total circuit slots is a fairly high opportunity cost.

Yes, while we're at it, we should disable moggles (entire screen vision) and torches (if you have a grass and twig farm, you can get infinite light).

Randomly disabling things isn't a good way to balance a difficult mode. Especially when after you get the circuit, you're at low max stats and only 2 circuits to improve your character.

Light's out could really use some tlc. It's remained untouched since the games inception, there aren't even shipwrecked/hamlet lights out presets.

I think that's part of challange, like how birds are unobtainable, or how fire is needed to farm pigs.

Technically it has indirectly received said TLC from other updates - Year of the Beefalo, official starting items, etc.

Fig trees and their crockpot foods are also pretty amazing for these worlds.

Farming too somewhat since you can indefinitely store seeds in the ground without them spoiling since there's no growing period without any natural light.

Pearl becomes nocturnal, so you don't have to work around her schedule like you would in a regular world.

Neverending full moons during celestial champion event. (This will be rather annoying though without any means to ignore gestalts)

If you can get your hands on The Lazy Deserter after defeating Antlion then it's excellent for dropping your sanity to 0, thus disabling gestalts.

Bone Helm works too.
