Pixelate Fonts on M1 Chip MacMini

I run Don't Starve Together natively or using Win11 virtual machine on the same device (MacBook Air M1).

I agree with karitha, looks like a resolution thing.

It looks exactly how my game looked for a long time when I started using a big 60 inch TV as monitor for my computer (WIN PC)
I had to mess around a lot with resolution settings until it looked "somewhat" better.

Exactly, also want to mention that some of  operating system (Debian in my situation) don't give correct resolution on videos. Might be a codec thing about video players or Nvidia drivers. But as I know Nvidia drivers works fine for macos (never used one, just heard)

I sure that's a bug in SDL as my device failed to be detected

And it's definitely a DS/DST bug because other games like Oxygen Not Include, Dead Cells, Hades run in high solution correctly.

What's more, DS/DST fail to recognise my xbox controller but other games can recognise normally.

So I'm sure Klei need to update SDL for their DST.

 

By the way, I never open netbook mode.

You can see in MacOS, GPU cannot be recognised and resolution is very low (1440x847).

My display resolution is about 2k.

What if you retain and use the native resolution of your monitor for the game but run it in windowed mode instead? Does it still cover the full screen with rescaled fonts or does it look as it should?

→ Try running the game in windowed mode with different resolutions.

Window mode is blur, but fullscreen mode resolution is normal. However, in fullscreen mode my cursor is very small and too hard to drag.

(Besides, as a modder, when debugging my mod I don't want to be in fullscreen mode, because fullscreen mode influence my coding efficiency.)

Again, this low resolution bug only appears in the Don't Starve/Don't Starve Together, not in any other games like Oxygen Not Include, Dead Cells, Hades, etc.

It's not a display problem. If you use PD17 or other softwares to run Windows 10/11 virtual machine on M1 MacMini, and then install Don't Starve Together in the Windows system, you will get a normal high resolution.

Obviously a bug in this game. I don't understand why Klei don't fix it.
