Complaints n Problems about offline play (GAME IS SLOW)

Recommended Posts

Hey I wanted to make this thread to voice a few complaints, they aren't a big deal I just want some answers cause it's confusing me

mainly 2 things, sometimes my game is extremely choppy, every footstep I take I just jitter even in singleplayer, but when I was playing strictly unprofessional yesterday I didn't have this problem. This even happened offline which was even more confusing, what could be the cause of this. has anyone ever had this happen before? I'd submit a world to the bug tracker but I deleted it. I will mention I did alter the world settings a bit, added more pig houses, beehives mactusk stone fruits and a lot more. - a bunch of stuff that's usually up to RNG

In my other world I have like 20-30 pig houses set up at my base and it lags like a mother fricker it drives me crazy because it's just like upwards of 30 pigs it's not that much, my pc is completely fit to run DST so I can't even fathom why this happens, if this has happened to anyone else please let me know.

also lately creating, and launching world has been taking much more, this didn't happen in the past, has this happened to anyone since the terraria update dropped?

Lastly, is there anyway to play DLC characters offline? I like Wanda and I want to be able to play her without the requirement of an internet connection, will this feature ever bring the light of day where I can play not only Wanda but Wormwood too? The skins I understand, but the characters I think I unlocked them fair and square so I should be able to play them offline right?

With skins and DLC characters, the game needs to use the internet to connect with your klei account to determine if you have access to them. So no; you need to play online to access skins and DLC characters.

Why is this data only stored and accessed from Klei's servers instead of locally on your machine? Because otherwise you could tell the game the skins, spools, and DLC characters you have unlocked just by editing a file instead of buying/earning them.

You can make a mod to add the dlc characters for free and play them like that. I think it's a bit silly to restrict them like this, people who want to pirate them are gonna pirate them, they aren't being stopped.

Tbh, for the DLC characters I'd really like to see an option to play them offline.

For skins it really doesn't matter since they are purely cosmetic, but for the characters it'd a gameplay change.

What if the bought characters get saved as a hash sum on the client, that only works with the specific steam account or something? That way chareacters would be available for offline play, but are not available to other players when you copy the stuff over. Also, since the characters are non-sellable you can't just but it, save the hash sum for offline play, and sell it again, so it's safe in that regard as well.

Alternatively: I’d rather Klei just made dlc characters into a one time only weaveable item, that once woven can not be unraveled into spools, the reason Why dlc characters were not available for Offline play was people were able to hack offline and weave as many essential head skins of Wortox, Wurt, Etc they wanted then log back into online mode to unravel them for infinity amounts of spool- it sucks but.. bad people is why we can’t have nice things.

Walter was originally going to be a paid DLC character, but at the last moment Klei decided to make him free and changed it.. so Walter is proof that they can make them offline capable, the only question is would they want to/could they prevent spool abuse?

I think it would be really really cool if an Online world you started in Online Mode can be switched to Offline Mode: But any skins you were using while connected online would still be useable in offline, such as for example: A characters preset of clothing, or anything you’ve crafted while online like a Crystaline Alchemy Engine etc.

Obviously you wouldn’t have access to the Wardrobe Cabinet or be able to change the skins in offline play- but this is better than nothing.
