Would you like to see more construction projects in the future?

Recommended Posts

Something I wish was utilized more often is the concept of construction projects. For those unaware of what I'm referring to, it refers to doing things like building the celestial portal, upgrading pearl's house, assembling the lunar siphonator, and setting up the royal tapestry. I personally think these mechanics are neat, as they give a pricey (but not too expensive) goal for someone or a group of people to work towards, and get a neat benefit out of it.

However, I don't really see the mechanic utilized all that much. There's only 4 projects in the game, 1 being character exclusive and another being completed early-ish into a world. I would love to see this mechanic be more utilized in the next content arc, as I think it's a neat way to encourage teamwork and gives a neat reason to go and gather resources for a common goal.

Some sort of shack construction project would be lovely.

I am jealous of all the pig and merm craftsmen and their houses while we are forced to sleep in tents / crappy lean to.

Project would be costly (and possibly blueprint locked) and work like a tent but with much more uses and instead being completely destroyed after using it up you would just need to do some repairs to it. (cost of initial construction and cost of repairs is up to debate)

I think they're fun. They're designed in such a way that anyone can see what needs to be done and contribute without even one word being spoken. Lets people choose to help without anyone needing to ask them to. At least in theory.

Earlier I was thinking about how much fun it is that some bosses can be summoned wherever you want. Perhaps another communal project could be added that enables the spawning of a new boss. Maybe some Forge crossover thing, you build a whats-it to enable summoning some of those guys, or new guys who look like they came from there. Could be fun to make and decorate a gladiator arena for things like ToT, SCP, and some Forge dudes.

I'd honestly love to see something like this for planning out bases actually. Some sort of planning kit that you can slap down somewhere, select a recipe for and then everyone can contribute on it and everyone knows what someone has in mind for the base layout.

That and just more construction projects in general would be really fun I'd say.

this sounds super fun, instead of pub bases being a mess of random placements they could have a layout set up by someone with players contributing to the placed structures slowly building an actually good base

This is very much needed in team base building.

Most of the time, the process is other people getting the resources for one person who's designing or in charge. Only the person in charge knows what's going on, all the other person can't feel the joy of achieving milestone or mini-goals, they can only wait for structures to pop up, very boring.

Plus, this would allow visual planning before final construction, which is very helpful.

You should post this idea in both "suggestion and feedback" and "beta branch"

Actually been meaning to make a bigger post with several suggestions for smaller convenient stuff, so this is something I'll add there.
