What lags server?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I have simple question for forumies: what lags the server? Like in most cases?  Is there any way to find out what lags mine, like some sort of console where are server details? We're building megabase,  day +-500, with a very limited mob farms (because of that). PC is decent. I installed some auto cleaning mods for rot and twigs (if thats issue?), but when server goes insane near  6 penguls, that makes me clueless.

The easiest anwser would be the ammount of entities, when you are building megabases, and you notice that your game slows down, I would stop adding more stuff to the core of your base, and expand more to make loaded areas have less entities. I have heard that storing some(not neseccarly usefull) stuff in some distant location, for example turf in molewrom burrows or in caves improves gameplay. In my 2200 days world I feel that game slows down in two places, in my base, and in monkey farm, the second I suppose is because of the ammount of beard hair and other loot from monkeys, and of course from monkeys themselves. Also storing stuff in containers improved my gameplay quite a bit.

Webber is pretty strong at on-command lag, too. If you go out of your way to collect basically every spider egg on the server and plant them all in one spot, a full screen of tier 3 spider dens + webby whistle to call them all out is probably 2nd best lag with bees in first.

Bee biomes, especially with killerbees chasing you, there's just one hell of a pathfinding pile. Pengulls are also ridiculously laggy for some reason, avoid or kill them. Lots of stuff lying on the ground is more laggy then lots of stuff tucked away in chests. Webber and his quadrabrazizillion spiders. Blooming mushtrees that yeet their spores everywhere. 20+ homeless pigs running around in the same spot. And me. If you have lag, always check first, if I am on your server.

Most impactful lag reduction for me was:

1. Screen resolution - impacts graphics a little, but reducing this completely removed the annoying occasional jitters

2. Mods - some mods can increase rendering load, the biggest culprit for me was the minimap hud. Tweaking the mod setting to refresh ghe minimap less frequently cut a bit of lag

try host/rent dedicated server .. for me it lessen the burden of my on game, but im not that sure if its really help for others
that DST Australia have really great server... megabase 12k days with 0 lag ..
i wish they read this and spill where and how much they rent that server XD

Because I play with more people we ended up renting proper server, so far without any issues. Thanks you all for  helpful tips :)
