Pioneering - when I land a one-way rocket on an asteroid far far away, how do I properly salvage it?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

If I want to drop astronauts on a an unpopulated and dangerous asteroid far far away, and want to salvage the rocket for rare materials, what should I avoid to salvage, or what is a recommended order? If the rocket brings living quarters, battery section, solar power, a gas cargo container with oxygen, can I dismantle the engine and other parts of the rocket and still be able to unload the gas container?

In DLC every rocket components can construct/deconstruct individually. If you deconstruct a spacefarer, everything inside will be dropped on floor including gases in bottles. So it is safe to change or deconstruct any module of it.

Except gas cargo module. If you deconstruct it the gas will be released in surrounding. So unless your rocket is in enclosed room it is not a good idea to deconstruct gas cargo modules.

I let my astronauts run around in lead suits, I don`t bother to get heir helmets off. So when they land somewhere and get out, they are pretty well protected. Currently my best material is Steel in the current save ( I`m a material noob  ), so I make all rocket components out of Steel currently.

Wherever one lands, one can pop up some ladders next to the rocket and dismantle the rocket components/materials...which then can be used to build something in the new location.
