Happy Deerclops Night

Recommended Posts

It's the 10th night of winter (timezones may vary), so gather around the campfire in the garden with friends/family, and share stories like how your first proper base got leveled by the mighty giant, or how the real eyebrella was the friends we made along the way.

Happy Deerclops Night Everyone!

in my first days of playing DST (jan 2020) i joined a public server that based at spawn.
it was pretty basic. i was new to the game, and i didnt do a lot of anything useful. all i knew was staying at camp, pretty much.
i played on that server for 3 hours straight. it became winter, and later into winter still, and there was still a good amount of people on the server.

then, deerclops came. this was winters feast, so all of us saw that red glow, and ran.

i dont know how there was no one who knew how to deal with deerclops on that server, but we ran at it, trying to get little hits in before we all died. the survivors were chasing down ghosts at an attempt to revive, only for those revived to due seconds later because of freezing. and so, all of us were dead!

first encountered clops in the earlier versions of alone, messing around with the console, spawning it in and then messing around and dying to it.

then killing it legitimately became a sought after goal in my head and then, after switching from webber to willow to finally Wendy, i killed it with the proper kiting methods, the old reliable logsuit + football hat + lots of pierogi.

Nowadays i die to it because i get cocky wearing a tam and a backpack and leading it through a forest with an ice staff to aggro so it spawns treeguards.

Darkness.
Cold. Bitter cold.
Starvation gnawing at my sanity. Never enough food. The jerky taunts me, but I know it hasn't set yet...just a bit longer.

Just.
A bit.
Farther.

I'd never managed to survive for this long. This cruel world...again and again, it made a mockery of my efforts. Putting me somewhere new, with nothing. None of the progress I'd made.
But it never let me die.

But now.
Now, I'd made it.
I can feel the icy claws of Winter on their retreat; the air warming ever so slightly. Or perhaps...perhaps I've finally lost it.
But that wouldn't be so bad.
One way or another...
Release was coming. I could make it. I could sustain this, even if ice rained down for an eternity.
I've won.
This world, it's demons...
Finally.
Conquered.

Lol, luckily I had some extra pig skin left in one of my chests, I was able to make a football helmet in just the nick of time, then I proceeded to kick deerclops’ rear into the next timeline.
