Noob Question

I play DST for a bit now survived just past 200 days then I saw the 2021 gameplay trailer for DST then I realize how much content I was missing all this time just wonder around collecting rocks and hunting meat, never go on open sea nor found those thing in cave.
I tried to search for a guild about those but get just some basic survival stuff.
So anyone please enlighten me.

DST has a lot of content. That trailer is a mix of a lot of stuff, which are not all related to eachother. Explaining everything would take a wall of text for every short clip. 

The only thing I can tell you is to explore. The more you take risks, discover the map, poke at things the more stuff you unlock and can play with. It's also super fun. 

If you want to know about something really specific, feel free to ask, we can explain some smaller things. Also wiki exists, but just reading it is not fun.

Have you explored ruins? Maybe that is a good place to start.

Do you use rollbacks? Do you have any ways to revive your character? I don't want to suggest that you explore only to die to something that you were completely unaware of, of which there are potentially many.

i recommend you to create world you dont mind to lose and explore all the places you are scary of

also try to examinate everything since  some characters say hints when examinating things that you might not know how to use

I think I've found them yes but don't know what to do with them is like some maze many chests with spider web floor, some weird color gems on the floor which I can't reach something like that?

I play with my group I'm usually the explorer and the other is the farmer and cook so yea if I die I can be revived

I think if I lose the world I can start a new one since I still enjoy the game even starting over I might try new character, right now I'm playing Wolfgang

thats the spirit!

each time you start a world you will notice that your gameplay will change because of the knowledge you have acumulated

did you explore the caves? explorimg them plus the sea will keep you bussy for so long

also, you can load the previous savefile (the game is saved at tje start of each day) in case you really wanna redo something or practise for a boss fight but don't recommend you to abuse this feature since will make the game boring faster since the game is designed to keep you playing for so long by teaching you ways of dying or losing resources or structures bur sometimes there is an accident, you are distracted, lag happens,etc

I've I explored the cave already but I still don't know what to do with a lot of things down there like I've mention I found a maze with some chests when I open it Wolfgang said something like "I don't like spook" or something some weird floor and such that's it.

that area is the ruins and the maze is part of the ruins. The chests have random loot (it reset after doing a late game thing), the wolfgang quote was about the curses that give you the chests when opened (changing your sanity, messing a little with the durability of your items, etc). At the end of the maze there is a little surprise, bring some armor and items that gives speed

in the ruins you get,in addition to other things, gems, nightmere fuel and thulecite which are used in maaany of the best recipes of the game but you cant learn these recipes, you need to find  a pseudoscience station (there is complete ones and broken ones, the broken ones can be fixed) which is like a science machine that cant be crafted, moved and the recipes cant be learned

 

oh, and something you might not know. Tentapillars (those huge tentacles in the caves) are like surface wormholes but you need to defeat them to use them for few minutes, one of them leads to a special place

lol that “special place” will get you killed, avoid it.. especially if your new, you should focus on just getting familiar with the game, the biomes in the game, the resources you can gather & what those resources can craft.

You will hear what sounds like a Tacobell Chime anytime you have gathered enough resources to craft something- the game is a survival crafting game, so be sure you check that out- you can learn more craftable things by building or finding in the world.. “Crating Stations” while standing beside these you will have new options of things you can learn to craft.

You will keep all of the knowledge you have learned to craft (with the exception to a handful of special things..) so once you have crafted them ONCE you can be anywhere in the game world and craft extras without needing to stand by the crafting station you learned them from until you Die.

There are some exceptions of course.. like the Pet Den (a rock that will have eyes on it) like:

you will ALWAYS need to stand near this rock to Adopt or Abandon a pet.

Alrighty, so my general advice, as with many other peoples, is to simply explore. Don't be afraid to search something on the Wikipedia if you can't figure it out, or if you find something potentially dangerous, there will be many of them, although naturally the more you discover yourself, the better. Try making every item at some point, if just to try it out.
