arvenil
Any plans to support Steam Deck? Would be awesome to play ONI on the go - I would buy it just for ONI. Would also help to have more efficient e.g. 1-2h sessions rather than sinking whole Saturday into over-engineered automation
babba
As the "Steam deck handheld" intention is a portable PC, I see no reason why the game will not launch and start. Keep in mind that big maps, good excavated, automated and populated will max out the cpu, making the device hot and draining the battery fast. Smaller maps should be great fun to play with it - If your eyes are still young, don`t drop out and your hands don`t get stiff and fall off. If you would like to have the "babba`s special savegame for Steam handheld`s", let me know @arvenil The special save
arvenil
One thing I would hope for is official say from Klei they will focus on it, as this will definitely require some optimizations. Second thing beside optimizations are controls - I don't think playing with thumbsticks and touchpads and just few buttons will be comfortable enough. Looks like great opportunity for Klei though, to get the game on a handheld console. Would be awesome extension for PC gaming sessions as well. Some tasks I could do on PC and some on the go, thanks to cloud saves.

Saturnus
The answer is yes. The OS is linux-based, and the hardware is a 4 core/8 thread AMD Zen2 CPU with 8 CU RDNA2 iGPU built in and 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. So it's definitely very potent hardware, easily capable of running ONI. Keyboard/mouse is supported via USB C that also supports display port output, or BT. The SteamOS can be replaced by any OS the user wants. Or you can even have dual boot if you so choose. I often play on my HTPC/big screen TV but even when I play on the regular PC I use my controller instead of keyboard/mouse. Since the steam deck seems to be very similar to the SC I think it'll work great. A quick rundown of my controller config: the right pad moves the mouse, the left touchpad is an invisible radial menu for all of the building menus, holding the back right paddle turns the left pad into a visible radial menu for all of the overlays and turns the right pad into a visible radial menu for digging/attacking/etc. Here's and old 30 second video showing a quick example and here's a newer one after I made some updates, including adding the icons for the overlays as seen at the 30 second mark.
