Double F Posted April 25, 2021 Share Posted April 25, 2021 Typing all of this in one go, please ignore any gramatic errors or low in depth explanations near the end, ill go more in depth when responding to comments. Also this tier list is assuming the player is amazing at the game, making near 0 errors and having proper pathing and efficient gameplay. Introduction: There are 2 things you do in this game, Surviving (food, resource gathering, temprature, hounds, darkness, etc) and Thriving (building, fighting bosses, automated farms, etc) There is also 2 essencial things one must manadge, that being resouces (food, materials to craft / build, weapons/armor, healing, etc) and time. The more a character can do with less resources and less time the better. For example, weather to kite a boss or not depends on the resources you will be wasting and the time you will spend. Kiting deerclops makes the fight much longer making you insane and having to waste extra time dealing with shadow creatuers, while tanking it might cost you a football or 2 but you save on time and sanity This tier list will rank characters on their ability to Survive/Thrive and resources/time saving capabilities. Inside a tier the character on the left will be arguably better than the character on the right. If a character is arguably worst than all the characters on a tier he demotes down, for example in my opinion Wulfgang i better than wendy but one could argue she is better than Wulf so they stay on the same tier Wulf to the left Wendy to the right. In my opinion Wickerbottom is strong but lacks in time saving stratagies that both Wulf and Wendy thrive thoes making her worst then both of them, demoting her to A tier, so on and so foward. S Tier: Wulfgang - Arguably the best character in the game, Wulfgang is able to save half the time and fighting resources compared to a normal character, is 25 movespeed bonus also allows him to colect resources faster and is easy to mantain both early mid and expecialy late game. Is sanity drain is often an advantage making him go insane faster when he wants and being easy to manadge in order to avoid insanity. Not having real downsides makes Wulfgang able to aply any stratagie you want in the game with above average results ( Some Characters do Scienceless Ruins rushes better, WX and Woormwood do Science Rushes better, Wendy can solo Bee queen easier and Woodie is the best at rushing lunar island). Overall, unless your rushing a specific stratagie that other character does better than Wulfgang (even than one could argue Wulfgang catches up in progress has the game goes on) Wulfgang is the best choice only falling of a bit late game due to not having a character specific autumated farm metod ( Wendy has abigail, Wicker has tentacles, winona has catapults, willos has bernie etc). Wendy - Second best character (arguably first) in the game, Wendy (or should i say Abigail) is able to massfarm mobs making abigail a farming machine, rushin bee queen (having the best bosses drops earlie in the game) and having an above average dps vs other bosses makes her incredible. Not having to worrie about fights due to abigails protection is amazing making Wendy only taking damage when adressing a boss. From spiders to shadow splumonkeys, Wendy will have a bunch of resources essential for free laking only on 2 departments, ruins rushes and kiting bosses both easy to solve. She has no real downside just like Wulf. A Tier: Wickerbottom - Wickerbottom shares the bee queen rush spot with Wendy altough wasting a bit of time and resources when compared. However, her science up allows her to do scienceless ruins with science ! She can create a bunch of farms with her tentacles loosing only to Wendy on the departments, has she can even mass farm essencial resources such has grass twigs etc... The bird book and sleepy time stories also allow her to spawn food from the air and even farm for krampus sacks while doing it. Just like Wulf and Wendy she dosent have a real downside only demoting to the top of A tier due to not being able to match both Wendy and Wulf Resources and Time Savings. Wortox - Wortox is imortal for free. When it comes to saving resources hes arguably the best due to being able to eat, heal and kite with his souls. His teleportation also allows him to travel the fastes out of any character and even dought he dosent have a damage multplier hes dps is one of the highest due to being able to dodge on the spot. Souls are easy to come by and has longs has Wortox has souls hes top tier (Arguably better than Wicker) losing only to the S tier gods. Wigfrid - Wigfrid has amazing sustain and starts the game ready to fight making her one of the best characters to sciencless ruins rush with. Her fighting abilities are one of the best due to her abilities and songs insentivating her to tank bosses and dishout great dps losing only to Wulf the fighting god and Wendy the tanking god. When kiting however Wortox catches up to her and is sustains is better does making him better. Maxwell - Maxwell is the best at resource gathering and sciencless ruin rushes. Hes shadow duelist also allow him to have above average dps on certain boss fights. Is low hp is only problematic when forced to tank certains attacks (dragonfly first hits for example) making him always have to kite bosses or risking wasting a lot of resources (witch he his the best at gathering so take it with a grain of salt ). Hes main downside other than the low hp is the constant sanity gain witch makes it harder for him to go insane and farm nightmare fuel to make is pupets. When playing solo hes mass resource gathering isent has valuable making him arguably outmatched by the previus A tiers. Woodie - Woodie has a bunch of perks and hidden talents for exaple were moose can farm mobs a bit faster than abigail or werebeever can colect resources to a speed near Maxwell making a good all aroud character. What makes him A tier is the ability to rush Lunar island and start the game with a bunch of lunar stuff. Also were goose is great at exploring the map. Is downside of losing hunger and sanity when tranforming back is a bit annoying to say the least forcing woodie to prepare everytime he eants to use his powers or every full moon. Weremoose is too week to solo bosses with forcing woodie to dook it out in human form making moose a simple lackluster mob farm. Being a jack of all trades makes him B tier at least but Woodie isent just a jack of all trades, hes the master of lunar island rushing bumping him up from top of B to Bottom of A :D. B - Tier: Warly - Warly is great, he can rush the ruins with the light dish, he can come closer do Wulfgang Dps (and even surpass him while raining) with voltgoar jelly + pepper spice, hes healing and sanity gains are both taken care by jellybeans and forget me lotus and food isent a issue when using a pig farm with meat stews. Whats holding back the character is the time and resources needed to farm and lack of a dicent ability to manipulate his sanity. Late game he becomes great but at a cost of a bunch of time and resources sunken making him top of B tier. Wormhood - Similar to Warly, Wormhood is great at ruins rushing due to having built in living logs and the easy to mantain speed boost is great for travel and increased dps while fighting bosses. Is healing can be taken cared of with jellybeans and compostures but he dosent bring much else to the table. WX-78 - WX is by far my favorite character, he dosent have a real downside and his stat buffs that he gets from eating gear are amazing. Gear become one of the most overpowered food souces provading everything he needs without spoiling and can be somewhat farmable whit ruins reset. Hes by far the best Science Ruins Rushes not having to bring food due to the amount of gears down there, all of this makes him B tier aloane. What makes WX my favorite and what should bumpe him to A tier if it were more acecible is his overcharge mechanic. Packing the best move speed buff in the game 1.5x and imunity to freeze has well has providing a lightsource makes him amazing at travel and Dpsing bosses. However when played solo you only have 3 ways to get this boosts, 1 in spring when mosslings spawn, 2 using a telelocator or 3 praying a random lightning stoarm starts and a lightning hits you. If this ability were more acessible Wx would be bumped to Low A tier for sure. Not having easy access to it makes it argueably a little worse than wormhood. Walter - Walter is the one character i have an issue placing due to his gameplay being different from the rest. Is imunity to sanity drain is amazing but losing it all of a sudden when taking hits or not being full hp is a harsh drowback. Is sling shot is lackluster making only work when time and resources a sunken into the gather of marble and his cheese stratagies are arguably worst than regular cheese stratagies such has fire farms. The only reaon im puting him at B tier is the combination of a beefalo and chester that he brings making his exploration good, his ruins rushes decent and slingsshot kiting stratagies doable. C Tier : Winona - Winona is basicly a Wilson that can make expensive boss/mob farm late game, dosent thrive in anything nor does it have amazing survivability in fact her hunger building system is rather annoying. I tend to only use her when swaping to her to make catapults. On a solo run she just focus on basic gameplay while gathering resources to surround bosses and making mob farms. Catapults are great however and if they were more cheeper she would be much higher in this tier list. Willow - Willow is alright, dosent have a real downside haswell and her imunity and sanity gain from fire is great. Bernie is the best part of her kit providing a budget abigail do draw agro from mobs and bosses allowing willow to get free hits. Besides that she dosent do anything amazing, just a Wilson base character with some neat stratagies. Webber - Webber only upside is the ability to mass produce spiders wheter to farm food or use them to fight bosses. Spiders are by fair the worst buddy you could have and food is by far the easies resource to gather does making her rather redundent. For sure better than good old Wilson and even Wurt. D Tier: Wurt - I like Wurt, she has some crazy nich uses like having temperature and sanity manipulation with fishes and meat, having a bunch of free roads with march turf and being able to produce the best army in the game, However her downsides are harsh. The time and resources it takes to mass preduce merms is a lot making her being able to reach her objectives aloane istead of wasting time merm farming. Her vegetarian downside is not that big since she can use her sanity perks and a few vegan only dishes to mantain her sanity and jellybeans take care of most of her healing being complemented with some vegan foods haswell, the real problem is hunger forcing her to rely on farms, kelp and berry bushes. What holds her back the most is the inability to trade with pig king making gold a scare resource late game. The reason she shares a spot with wilson is basicly because wilson is overall better than her, Wurt can outclass him with merms but wilson can use pigs so it comes back to a tie/her being a little better. Wilson- Good old Wilson here is alright. Easiest character to make a meat effadgy, no downsides, beard helps in winter and spring. Thats all E Tier: Wes - Even with his rework, Wes still sucks, and hes meant to suck. Istead of listing is endless downsides ill list what hes good for, 25% Movespeed out of the gate, Easy nightmare fuel farming/ Sanity storing with ballons, Ballon spaming across a whole year can perhaps one shot a boss if hit by all those ballons since theres no limit now, Thelucite Club has 25% more durability making it the best weapon for him due to the increased chance of spawning tentacles, annnnd thats all. Due to his dwonsides hes stilll by far the worst character in the game And thats all folks, please write down in the comments your toughts on the tier list, any crazy stratagies / hidden perks a character might have that might bump him up a spot or two and feel free to educate me in anything you think it my help the improvement of this tier list. Dextops Posted April 25, 2021 Share Posted April 25, 2021 hunger isnt a problem for wurt like wild carrots sustain for early game and then farming things potatoes is your best option for its easy farming and versatility and then resource gathering which fish might be the hardest thing to gather but wood can be gathered by natural spawning merms and she can demolish an entire rock biome and forest with just a couple merms which are easy to tame just a couple berries and merms are 3x better than pigs since merms do much more for cheaper taming prices and that natural spawning merm houses have 3 merms inside them so just going to a swamp can find like 6-9 merms ready for demolishing anything since they can mine and chop outclassing pigs in every single except loot drops. also they have more health than pigs so using them to fight makes them last longer. so she has practically no downsides except having to fish a lot for houses other than that she is practically ready to do anything. she is b+ at least and s- at most overall this tier list is ok i dont have much opinions on it except for the bad wurt placement. Harrowick Posted April 25, 2021 Share Posted April 25, 2021 I've currently got a Wurt world going where all my needs are automated via the absolute chaos of having merms and spiders absolutely everywhere. The swamp basically becomes Webber, providing monster meat to turn into eggs for vegetable dish filler, silk for sanity, and glands for healing. I've run out of swamp to place huts in so I've started expanding the turf. She's amazing in solo worlds, especially if you can get some merms really early to help gather a stupid amount of resources and merm king before winter even starts. Also you seriusly underastimate how good tentacles are and how good spaming the growth book is and how good her morsal lunar island with krampus on the side is, and the fact that she can make a vargue or hounds farm and have infinite blowdarts to out dps wulfgang...
