SEA UPDATE IDEAS Bernard The Polar Bernard is a veteran one handed polar bear. He usually could be find near of edge of the sea while he sits on his iceberg and fishing all day. He sleeps on winters. He could not be attacked or killed (like pig king) and have funny quotes like "I'm glad polars are left handed". When players give any ocean fish to him, he will throw a icecube to boat. (Will not cause damage) Ice cube will be carryable and breakable with pickaxe. When players break it, it will give few ices (I think amount should be 1-5) and a random item (like gnome), seeds, fruit or nothing. Basically it's a tumbleweed but have higher chance to drop goodies. Prison Islands Now few one-tile island will be generated in the sea. They will have a coconut tree, a treasure and a bone. If you think "X" treasure is so much pirate style, stuffs could be on ground or in a chest. SWAMP UPDATE IDEAS New Waters Now a lake will be generated in the swamp. It will have darker colour and stick/grass swimming on it. Also it will have fog effects and little plants around. Rice and Shine Rice is a new plant that's swimming in water and could not be plant anywhere else (Like reeds). Players could make new food recipes with it. It's grows in 3-4 days and have not rot meter until be cooked. Also have mosquitos around it. Magic Of The Swamp Creature This mud monsters are usually sleeps in lake but when they feel any player-caused vibration on lake (like rowing boats), they wake up from their sleep and try to destroy vibration source. They are gonna hit your boat until kill it or be killed. When thett be killed they are gonna drop kelp, sticks and swamp mud. Swamp mud have perfect nutrition levels for farm plants. It's magic of nature! The BloodSucker This monsters are small death machines, they are really small and their colours make them hard to find. They are just waiting in sea and when they taste blood of any creature on air (Players have lesser health than %100), they are gonna jump on players and will be equiped on tool, helmet or chest slot. They will stay on it and suck players health until players realizes and unequip it. They are gonna die when be unequip. So players could eat it and gain health (while lost sanity) or basically use it as fish bait. Disgusting but useful. Frog Prince I love lily pads, who doesn't? Swamp will have lilypads and lilypads will have crown flower on it. This flower will be a great exotic drink on crackpot that called Princ El'zââ. But... Sometimes it's not that easy to having a crown. Lilypads have a chance to have a frog under it. If players get attacked by frog Prince, they have a chance to turn a frog for few seconds. Is it worth to for that drink, it's your decision. That was all, thanks for reading. Please share your feedbacks and I hope I could give inspiration to Klei. I do not like the blood sucker, which just seems like Ark Survival Evolved Leeches, I hated them in that game, I would hate them in DST too. If I may add to your list, I want Water Lillies, they would be plants that only grow on Water and only during night before returning to unbloomed by morning. Similar to the real ones they could even provide a radius of light.. but when the player gets to close they retract and stop glowing (like water version fireflies) Another thing I would suggest to replace the Blood Suckers is instead an At Sea Skitter Bug Spider, these things exist in real life and well they would be an at Sea Version of Spiders for Webber to befriend (and Non-Webber’s to die to) Since I can’t draw worth a flop- Here are two source links & short YouTube videos for both real versions pulled from google. I like it, but these could be in a swamp i think bc sea have so much waves. But I think we have a lot of spiders in game. It's would be ok if it would be bug looking bug instead of spider looking spider or bug looking spider. And I wanted for leech because the things I talk about swamp makes it free source of stuffs. I mean, you could go on it pretty easy and collect rices, then kill the mud monster and go home with a bag of goodies. I think swamp should have rich stuffs but should be really dangerous. Mike23Ua Posted December 8, 2020 Share Posted December 8, 2020 Well in Ark, the Leeches stayed attached to you no matter what you tried to do, even dying wouldn’t get rid of them, it took me quite awhile to discover that the only way to get rid of them was to intentionally catch yourself on fire. there are two versions in that game- normal leeches which weren’t so big of a threat and then Diseased ones- which would contaminate you and then also anyone or any animals you come nearby. It was absolutely horrible.. I think the closest thing DST has to that is the Slurper which leaps on your face and then drains your hunger faster then normal but it eventually leaves you alone and goes away right?? Or maybe it only comes off when you put a hat on? I don’t know I can’t remember- I just know I usually run like hell away from the nightmare inducing little glowing eyed long tongue freaks. Your suggestion doesn’t sound as bad now that you explained it a bit more, I like difficult content in my games.. I just don’t want it to be so difficult that it becomes annoying more then it is fun, And Ark Leeches hit the Annoying landmark. And yeah, they will be pretty similiar with slurper, the different thing about this is this guys can take over any tab of three main equipment tab, health sucking instead of sanity and be triggered only when player have not full health. Yeah waters are empty but Klei should not fill it for just filling. I mean they should give reasons to going to sea. I'm glad you liked it! I’m personally hoping that because we are still technically in beta that Klei will take a lot of bigger risks before Return of Them reaches its ending. Throughout the ROT updates we have seen many changes to the core foundation of the game with Character Reworks, QoL tweaks & improvements, And Return of Them content chain updates. We now have a sailable ocean, NPCs with quests to do, bosses that depending on what items you offer to it scales how difficult it will be (please do this for all old bosses as well Klei) More complex, in depth and engaging Fishing and now also Farming, Years long exploits such as being able to outrun shadow monsters until they load out of existence being fixed, other features that WERE a core part of the gameplay being completely removed altogether such as Disease as a thing... My point is before turning this into a TL:DR Klei is really taking this game and evolving it into the superior to DS solo, Sequel it should had been years ago.. and the more they change, the more they improve, the more they tweak, the more content rich, exciting and advanced DST becomes. I hope they do not plan to be done with RoT updates anytime soon, I’d love to see more islands, more at sea biomes, mobs, etc, a cooking rework, a ranged combat rework, a Beefalo taming rework, a Critters Den and Critters pet uses Rework, Oasis redesign (palm tree’s please) more options in the world Gen settings menu to toggle the newer ROT content on/off, more/less, New boat shapes, types, uses, sizes, Elevated foundations of land.. ETC Basically what I’m saying is why stop now..? There’s so much more they could do that really draws in the players deeper into the game. Theyre actually experiencing that right now with the new RWYS update having so much more people trafficking the forums then usual that their forums are breaking. I look at DST, as a game that as long as the developers are passionate about and are able to do so- that can continue to get updates for months, maybe even years to come.. and can continue to expand and evolve so much more. A lot of your ideas here I would love to see implemented but, as Klei has always shown they never cease to amaze me with things I never even knew how much I needed. RWYS is Awesome, it may not be as big of an update as Forgotten Knowledges: But it makes farming involve player activity, it’s exciting and it’s fun.. and that’s all that matters. Hated farms, never used em that often before.. but NOW I’ll be making them all the time.
