Transit tube bridge

Recommended Posts

  • tl;dr version

there needs to be a way to bridge over a transit tube with another transit tube, because there are situations where separate tube lines are required

  • longer version:

Imagine you have at least two bases - one in the centre, one on the surface, which do not require atmo suits, as well as several industrial areas somewhere else that require atmosuits.

Dupes do not think ahead when it come to transit tubes and atmo suits, so if the path to their destination is available, they will use it no matter what troubles it'll get them.

So, the logical step for the player is to split the transit tube systems into two - one will require atmo suits, the other will forbid them. In theory, it is easy - the latter will have their stations inside bases, with all base exits covered with atmo suit docks; the former will have their stations outside bases, on the outgoing side of atmo suit docks.

In some cases, it is possible to make it so that neither tube line ever crosses the other. But most often than not, you will be forced to go across, let's say, a non-atmo line with an atmo line.

Therefore, you will need separation of the lines - a bridge. Otherwise non-atmo suit dupes will go to places where atmo suits are required. Bridges allow for neat separation of the two lines without any additional hassle.

On a similar note, it's super annoying that you can't make the tube bend (or have a T-junction) just after a bridge or entry point. The thing is already super restrictive as it takes the place of a building, does it have to be even more irritating?

ThereĀ  is a new mod on Steam changing this.
