where is Salt Formation in my world

Recommended Posts

I know it's a silly question but still asking because I wasted lots of days venturing oceans for finding salt to make saltbox. I almost discovered most parts of my ocean and unable to find any salt formations there. The salts should be there in a world, right ?

Also Is the concept right, that the part of map that is on my screen only can catch fire during summer? because I am trying to build a way to lunar island using boats for fast travel. Also if I fuel my flingos and go to cave for 10 days ,will everything be alright in my base as the flingos will run out of fuel within 5 days.

Thanks :D

If you don't mind messing with the console commands, you can have the game warp you straight to a salt formation, and then I suppose you might immediately drown, but at least you'll find out where the salt is.

I think the command would be something like: c_gonext("saltstack")

You can learn more about console commands here: https://dontstarve.fandom.com/wiki/Console/Don't_Starve_Together_Commands

I haven't done a ton with console commands (is that how people even refer to them?), so maybe there's a better way of doing it, assuming you want to go that route at all. That's my very basic understanding of it, though, in case that helps.

If you upload your server's master's session file then I could parse it for you and label out where they're at.

Example path:

Insofar as I know there's a guaranteed 3 salt spots in generation for default worldgen settings.

If you use mods, a client side mod called More Itens Plus has a menu to teleport you everywhere important, including the salt. If what the other person says is true about dying, you can put god mode on, but only after you get there. I am new myself, but learned fast after dying a lot, that when you teleport, god mode shuts off and must be activated again. Thats why I hate those dogs so much. Between resurrecting, and hitting god mode, those dogs kept killing me before I could activate it. I moved far then tried again. Came back and turned those things into fertilizer. Another feature, 1 hit kill.

Yeah, just needed any of them really; they're snapshots of the server state for the overworld.

Here's an image render of the map with the red dots representing the salt stacks.  Note that the render is in logical orientation to world coordinates, so if you want to view it "up right" in-game you'll want to rotate your camera 3 times from the default orientation.

Spoiler

You may want to view the image in a new tab or something, it's a lot larger and lets you see the red dots easier.

The light cyanish teal spots are the salt formations.

In your case there are a total of 8 salt formation clusters.

All of their origins are here if you have something that lets you view your position:

OMG, it 's amazing:D, I don't know how I missed those places but the fact you found salts just by using those file which doesn't have a proper extension is mind blowing. I heard earlier about Base64 decoding to decode the files and also as I am from a comp science background I tried to understand those things but .......

If you don't mind , Is there any video tutorial on how to decode those files or any easy steps with images ?

by the way, thanks a lot for your help:D

OMG, it 's amazing:D, I don't know how I missed those places but the fact you found salts just by using those file which doesn't have a proper extension is mind blowing. Ah, they're just LUA files.  You can run them in any LUA environment and extract whatever out of it.  Both map tile and nav data is base64 encoded, and is fairly straightforward for parsing after decoding.  Just need the return value from running the session's .map.nav, .map.tiles, .map.height, .map.width, and .ents.

I don't have any tutorial or images for doing it, I went ahead and did it one day a while ago.

Hi, could you be more precise on how to get the image of the map from the files? Thank you in advance.
