Machinery/Operating does it affect Shearing Station, Research Station or Farm Station?

Recommended Posts

I have trouble understanding which interests should I pick for given job. For example Farming gives Agriculture which increases Harvesting, Tending and Seed chance, but what about Farm Stations? Aren't they affected by Operation/Machinery instead? Same for Shearing Stations? What about Research Stations? Is there a way to accuratly see which building requires what and which skills affect them? I tried to check on wiki but IMO it's outdated or inconsistent.

Yes, thank for answer. I read some outdated articles from the times where apparently those things weren't logical and for example grill required operation. Looks like now it works correctly. Though it still would be nice to visually somehow see that given skill is used when running given machine.

It is possible. When selecting a building, click on the Errands tab. It will list the errands and what skills are required to complete that errand. The skills are shown using their respective icons. Sometimes two skills can be used to complete an errand; both would be shown.

** EDIT ** Added screenshots. Sorry, I do not have any research stations or farms right now. The farming station needs to supplied with fertilizer before the Micronutrient tasks becomes available. That fertilizer supply task can be completed by someone with either a Supply or Farming skill.

I'm pretty sure he meant attribute not skill.

Check out the "Skill and Stats Progress" mod on the steam workshop. If a dupe uses that skill, they gain XP for it.

A lot of things are considered "machines" and give tinkering skill in places you may not expect.
