I think there is are some games where they allow it, maybe Apex Legends and Fortnite. The PC experience is just different and merging that with console just causes more head aches than it's worth. Your PC friends would have to play with zero mods, and the lag would probably be really bad. The keyboard/mouse players would also be able to perform in ways controller users can't. Your forgetting the biggest selling game on the entire planet- Minecraft, Which is crossplay on Ps4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile. Its not just a children’s game, it’s a global phenomenon.. I only wish that Don’t Starve Together could reach the Popularity Spike Minecraft has had... imagine the Merchandise, The Free massive dlc updates and so so much more!
