Any plans on updating Klei Rewards?

I mentioned in a previous announcement that Console would be getting a virtual currency.

As others have mentioned in the thread, the reason for this is because the amount of time and preparation it takes to get cosmetic items on console has caused them to be severely behind everybody else. Anything we put up on console has to go through the cert process just like a DLC and the process takes a lot of time. The virtual currency allows it to work through a different process that would allow us to make as much available on consoles as PC players have.

Otherwise for each big update we would have to add 18-20ish DLCs (each requiring I believe it is 30-45 minutes setup time just to do the submission) not to mention image assets and such for each store. This means, resource wise we have only been able to add a couple bundles each update. Where as on PC they have tons of options for how they can obtain these items.

This isn't a signal that we're doing anything remarkably different or offering anything new - it's just what I said previously on multiple occasions, we're trying to offer as much for Console as we are for PC.

Sorry to  quote you yet again about the same certification process, but the virtual currency prospect does sound very interesting. Do you have any further details? How will this virtual currency work? Do I need a bitcoin computer?

Imagine it like a PlayStation voucher (which you bought with another PlayStation voucher?!?)which you can use to buy the skins you want. Dead by daylight does the same with their skins , where you can purchase aura cells to buy cosmetics. You pay for virtual currency to buy skins. It’s really simple really. There’s nothing more to it.

I do have a proposition though. If you have leftover „currency“ that you have the choice to transfer them into spools maybe. So you don’t have like 61 „currency“ left that you wont ever use.

Really no different than buying skins with money then?  I liked the idea of spools, but too many cosmetic items are still locked up for whatever reason. If when the virtual currency is introduced they unlock all cosmetic items and still allow them to be unravelled using spools, I think that would be a good idea.

They've been pretty clear about this. It's literally just a layer of indirection.

Instead of spending $4 to buy something from the shop you spend $4 to get golden spools to buy the item for $4 worth of spools in the shop.

It's like buying tokens at the arcade.

It makes it easier for Klei to certify updates which include shop changes on console.

This reeks of In-Game Microtransactions..

I love the game, but I play it BECAUSE it doesn’t have an annoying Microtransaction currency systems- I’ve stopped playing games I put over 120$ into such as Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition Because of their Microtransaction system.. that’s just how much I despise them, pretty sure I’d stop playing completely if it became yet another Wallet bleeding Microtransaction DLC fiasco.

As much as I love the skin cosmetics, I simply can NEVER agree with a game that has a 99$ Currency purchase option.

Sounds like you have a spending problem. What are you on about?

My problem is Micro-transactions and Premium game currency.. some people take for granted what 100$ Is really worth, I can feed my four member family Pizza takeout for 3-4 nights with that kind of money, and it just gets under my skin a little bit when I say for example buy a full priced game at over 100$ such as Elder Scrolls Online for example: and even after paying such a hefty price, people who waited for it to drop to 5$ can buy all kinds of cool cosmetics and ultimately look a lot better than my character can because they invested the 95$ they saved on NOT buying the game new, on in-game Microtransactions and cool cosmetic items.

If you could not tell by now- I don’t play ESO Anymore, but my point still stands- it is a sickening trend for full price games to still nickel and dime their customers to death with IaP’s what happened to the old days??? Where when developers wanted to “Earn” more money off their fan base they had to release a significantly sized DLC add on or a full fledge sequel?

GTA 4 released two big expansions Lost and the Damned, BoGT.

Red Dead Redemption Released Undead Nightmare.

Where are these significantly sized chunks of content I’m OKAY with spending 20-40$ on in GTA V or RDR2?? Wait.. that’s right, they don’t make them anymore because of the Success of Online mode or to be more exact the Success of Shark Card Purchases.

These same rules don’t quite apply to DST because (for the time being at least) there isn’t a 100$ currency purchase option.

you say I have a spending problem, but can any of you truly sit here and say that you are 100% perfectly OKAY with paying 100$ for a 4* Wonder Woman in Injustice 2?

Will current spools still work the same? Will all skin items such as Funkopop skin, previous twitch skins and event skins become unlocked? Will it eventually mean I get to stop hearing about the console delays because of the lengthy certification process?

The link to the Klei rewards program hasn’t worked for me for quite some time. Is there a link that works?

You mean this one: https://accounts.klei.com/account/rewards ?

It works just fine for me, what problem are you having?
