Coolung space devices with tiles?

Recommended Posts

I have been thinking about space layouts, and i see everyone submerges the miners and sweepers in liquid to cool them in space. I was thinking about building them on top of glass tiles.  Do the buildings exchange heat with the glass tiles that they touch in vacuum?

AFAIK not all do. In particular, it seems that auto-miners do not.

There are no buildings exchanging heat with blocks they're built on. At all. To our sorrow. Now i cool my "hanging" autominers down using oxygen periodically.

Really? Is all heat exchange between buildisgs due to tile to gas to building? I wonder if radiant pipes would work . . .

For most definitions of buildings. I believe the gantry does exchange heat with tiles.

Does gantry need to be cooled down? I thought it doesn't.

Radiant pipes in vacuum don't work. They need some medium in the environment to interact with. I just dispense oxygen near my autominers. It's enough for steel ones to be not overheated. Tested for 50+ cycles. Though i believe hydrogen is better for the purpose.
