hypoeffort
I want to surround the base with water. Using diamonds and window tile. Im thinking 3 tiles wide at least. Have east and west entrances with some sort of perpetual waterfall system. I'd love to fill it with pacu but that leaves out saltwater. Unsure if water locks would work anywhere in this system. Especially if I can make North or South Entrances to the base Anyone have some ideas or tried this? metallichydra
i think you could use transit tubes, if they work underwater. Spoiler or just use a sandlock Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/111332-360%C2%B0-base-aquarium/#findComment-1254537 Share on other sites
QuQuasar
A v-shaped crude oil or petroleum liquid lock will work just fine, but if you want something a bit more more entertainingly overengineered, I've found my waterproof airlock (the Mk II version specifically) to be quite effective and leak proof in survival. hyperionsshrike
Pacus (contrary to the text) can live in any fluid, even petroleum. Salt water is fine. DarkMoge
I would strongly suggest using a crude oil + petroleum lock for the ease of dupes travel. Just make sure that they only travel through it in atmo suits. Ethanol can also be used. expanding this idea: Also, it seems like you could get away with glass... I tried putting 70 tiles tall wall of water on top of it, it is still able to hold. So, I am not sure how much pressure you need to make the glass break. Think it could move all around somehow without leaking and move heat around? I mean, you could stick a water pump at the bottom and try to create an artificial waterfall, but than, it will not function as an aquarium. Your pipes would technically move the heat around... The crude oil + petroleum should remain still, but I did not test it. Though, in general, you should probably take this static setup and just use normal cooling loop around your base, no need to over complicate things for the sake of being fancy.
